    My wife surprised me with a trip to Punta Cana at the Barcelo Bavaro resort. Anyone been there? Let me know your thoughts on it. Wondering about the water and do they take US money??

    Hello Joe,
    I was at that same resort in February of this year.
    It was truly a 5 Star experience for me.
    The room, food, service, beach and weather was excellent.
    Yes, they do take US money.

    Domenic....I think every Canadian has been to Punta Cana or Varadero once in their life! LOL

    For the OP: I would also suggest Playa del Carmen in Mexico as another option. Beautiful beaches, hotels without the noise and hustle of Cancun.
