Hi guys. I'm finally closer to making a move on an 355, which has been my all time favorite F-Car. There was a listing on Ebay that caught my eye due to the MY and price, which seems to be a bargain. Just wondering if anyone else on F-Chat had a head start in checking out the car's background and can share: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-Ferrari-355-F1-Berlinetta-Low-Miles-Clean-LowRsr_W0QQitemZ170157276121QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170157276121 Thanks in advanced.
That car has been there a while, and that company isnt held in the highest regard by FChatters. I think that specific car has been discussed before, maybe search the 355 section? James in Denver
I drive by the place that's selling that car pretty regularly, and have stopped by to take a look.. It's been parked out front for a while, but a few weeks ago I noticed it was gone. I don't know that it was sold or anything, just not parked in that same spot. I never had them open the car, so just from what I can see looking in and walking around: Seats looked ok. Interior trim is so-so. If I bought it, I'd probably want to bring that back to life. Lots of little scratches on the paddles, like the driver wore a lot of rings or something. Paint looked 'dull', but it was sitting outside. Probably wouldn't take much to bring it back to life. It may even have simply been dirty. Very scratched up center caps on the wheels. Now those are cheap, but I have to wonder how they got there, and what that means.
I have called these guys a couple of days ago. There is no maintenance record to speak of. It had 3 owners and that is why it is priced the way advertised according to the fellow I talked to. I personally stayed away from it.
i think its still there because of the color combo not a popular color for buyers, when i spoke to the seller he stated it is due for the eng out service,he was very polite.
Why do some later 355's have these vents? I thought these were early 1995/1996 model bumpers..... anyone?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
my '95 B has no vents, but I can't check at the moment to see if it has been changed. I'm pretty sure it's the original bumper, though.
Can't say the colour from the pictures, but they look photoshoped brighter, which means 'blu pozzi' is possible too. BTW: The center console is bubbling and the parts around are rotten as well. Not inviting at all Spend some extra $$$ to replace these parts. cheers, cinque
Well it is confusing then, because my 1997 doesn't have them and I have seen 1995's and now 1999's with them.... ??? I guess its just one of those maranello things.... I do think they will let out some heat though....
Since I'm beginning the process of shopping for a 355, and had driven by the car before (see above), I stopped in yesterday to take a look. Not impressed. Car wasn't clean at all. No service history or records available of any kind. Also, the interior does not look like it does in the ebay ad. The console switches, etc... look like the pic, but the center vent has some damage, with edges of leather/foam exposed - although they look just fine in the pictures. Also, the dash looks black in that pic, but in reality, it's blue (like the door handle areas in some of the other pics).

I think you are right ... do they have side markers?? Are US models the only cars with side markers??
I think if a PPi checked out it would be a good deal. You can fix the small stuff. My car only had 10k on it when got it and the bubbled interior was already starting, I think it happens no matter what. Also my 99 US spider has the vents.
1995 F355 had no vents.Starting in 1996 vents were added to help dissipate excess heat from the exhaust and muffler.
