Has anyone delt with Progressive? Someone backed into the cockroach and they have Progressive. I have 3 estimates: $1900, $1350, and $1330. They said they would give me $650 and "work with the shop" beyond that. I just want them to give me the average of the lowest 2, plus 7 days for a rental ($30/day) so I can deal with it on my own schedule. Any ides how I can get them to accept the estimates I have?

Charles....... few years ago, Robert had his VW rear-ended by a Progressive driver. They tried the same,
saying that their shops and estimates were good. (Very good)

Here is the scoop........ I was not smart (at first) and should have forced them to go where "I"
wanted to. My Allstate agent said in GA I could have picked eactly what shop was to fix the
repair and they didnt really have a choice in the matter. (So Progressive was full of bull)

Secondly. The shop they so highly recommended was clearly color blind. (And I mean WAY WAY
color blind to the point where even the agent came out and said the car work looked fine. Charles
Im tellin ya it was so off in color (the front/rear bumpers they had to do) it was not even
    funny)

Bottom line.......... Take it to the place that you feel best with, screw Progressive.

Dealing w/ progressive on a weekly basis is a BIG PIA. They try and scare customers into using their "preffered" shops by telling them that their shops will gaurranty the work. Any good shop will do that and my warranty is for as long as you own the car. Both paint and craftsmanship. No one realizes that when you sign up w/ progressive and you activate your account you have just missed some fine print... When you open an account w/ them you are giving up your right to OEM parts. If you read their fine print you will see that you give them right to intall aftermarket parts even on BRAND NEW vehicles. Progressive is the WORST insurance, worse then Safe Auto to deal with. The adjusters are beyond cheap. They do not work w/ you if you are an independent shop and are VERY rude and the attitude is horrid. I can go on and on... all I can is good luck and if you were on my side of town I would be more then happy to help you out.

A letter from a lawyer should fix that problem. I have done it twice, once way back in 87 and one other time in 93. Worked both times. They lowball you and hope it sticks until they find out that you have made sure it won't.

Remember one thing ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES LIE. It is my business to deal with them 8 hours a day 5 days a week and it has been for 13 years. I know what I am talking about first hand. It is unbelievable the bull**** they will hand you.

Thanks for the tips. I plan to take it to a shop near North Fulton Hopsital that work on highline cars (even though this is the CRX not the 911 or TR6), as I know they will do it to my anal retentive engineer satisfaction, i.e. blend the paint, etc and their quote is in line with another shop. If Progressive balks then I'll deal with them and the guy that hit me. I already have a note from him saying he will pay what is required to get the car back to my satisfaction.
