Over the past few months I have been thinking about replacing my daily driver and was thinking of getting a C63. Anyone have one? Overall experience?

i have one on order. goes into production end of july. fully loaded with lsd and PP.
based on my findings of the 6.2 engine in my sls, the c63 is certainly a great car.

I sold them for the MB dealer here.....great bang for the buck, they handle incredibly well and are bloody fast. If you need a 4 door sports car, it is the only one to consider. Far better than anything from BMW or anyone else IMHO.

In all seriousness the C63 is the most fun car to drive that I've ever owned, & technically it is my wife's car.

Everything about it is wrong, but in a good way. :) You can have so much fun pushing it to the limits & unlike so many other cars out there, the C63 will let you kill yourself if you aren't up to the task and/or push to hard. It is such a contrast stepping into the 430 which is so refined & brilliant in so many ways, but as a daily driver the C63 is hard to beat in my eyes.

Get one, you'll never regret it.

I am considering one now too...probably a late model...any years to stay away from?

Issues to look closely at prior to purchase?

    Thanks,

nice pic! I didn't know you had one.

I looked into buying one, went for a test drive. great engine (I mean, GREAT engine!) and ridiculous acceleration. but I don't need a sedan, and didn't want to give up the more "pure" driving experience of my 911 every day. but if you need 4 seats and a trunk, the C63 is hard to beat.

I've had both an e92 m3 and a '63, the 63 was much better and is probably the best car i've ever had, go for the black series if it's sutible for you

Not long ago, I drove a friend's C63 extensively and fell in love with it.
It's such a blast to drive and it sounds fantastic. The engine is gem.
IMO it has much more character than the e90/e92 M3...it just feels much more special.
I must say that I'm seriously tempted...

not that i can think of really. most of the stuff that went wrong early on they have fixed or would have been fixed with the previous owner. i had doubts about buying because of all the amg horror stories ive heard but turned out its been one of the best trouble free cars ive owned. id look for a leftover 11 if you can find one and see if you cant get a deal. you should see more around with people trading in their 4 doors for coupes and bs's later on this year.

My buddy has a Kleeman. I always feel cramped in the drivers seat. Its fast, but I find it too small. I am over 6', so if you are as well, I would steer clear.

    Whats yours price range?

I'm 190cm, (6.2ft) and found the driving position perfect.
The fact that it's a relatively small car is one of its more appealing attributes IMO.
Big engine + small car is a winning formula :)

This is such a great car - awesome engine, very playful chassis, fantastic seats, even the steering wheel feels so right. The C63 really delivers on fun. I test drove one the same day I drove a Porsche 996 Turbo and I was shocked at how the AMG put a bigger smile on my face. Power oversteer is so accessible, yet controllable. And that sound...

I have owned just about every AMG 55 they made: E55, SL55, and a C55. Of the three, the C55 was the best. Imagine a go kart with big tires, big brakes, big motor, and a big A/C. What a rock 'n roll machine.

BTW, I'm 6'2" and fat. The C55 fit perfectly.

Because the C63 is supercharged, I believe, it is probably a C55 to the nth power.

C63 is normally aspirated. still a honkin' machine (450 bhp, IIRC?)

    The C55 was supercharged.
    C63 is NA.
The C55 was a very nice machine...but the C63 takes it to a whole other level.

I actually prefer the M3 more... but only slightly. The M3 is a bit more precise in terms of dynamics, but if you're just looking for a daily driver not even approaching even 9/10ths of the potential of the car, the C63 is probably a more fun daily driver. You don't need to really wind up the motor to get the thing moving.

My brother has a C63, and I'll admit I really like it. The interior is far better than the M3's, too.

Not to split hairs but the C55 was not supercharged like it bigger brothers with that engine. The C32 prior was supercharged.

You are right indeed. I was thinking of the C32 (which I had previously driven).

It has the naturally aspirated 6.2L (nominal) V8 found in the C63 and SLS. It also has a couple of Renntech touches. I've never put it on the dyno, but my best guess is it is somewhere in the range of 530HP/480FTLBS +/-

It is truly one of those Jekyll and Hyde cars that thumbs its nose at any definition of logical. Very few people on the road have any idea of what this car is capable. Aside from the four stainless steel sewer pipes hanging out back and a few other demur styling cues, it certainly doesn't advertise "WARNING: Occupant is armed and dangerous."

After stomping some unsuspecting Corvette or Mustang or M3, I get the same, perplexed, "Just what the f--- IS that thing???" stare at the next red light as the vanquished tries to get his head around the fact that he had his lunch eaten by a four-door sleeper.

Ricambi South, did you ever end up picking up a C63? I am considering looking at them now too...I always liked the old C32...
