Anyone ever claim to NOT own a Ferrari but actually did?

I try not to tell the guy at the parts store that I want a part for a ferrari if I can help it, most especially if the part is generic, like a washer or something like that.

However I have also experienced that it is advantageous to tell sometimes. I brought the tires(only) to be balanced at a shop and the technician did not want to touch them and called the owner, who was the most experienced guy. The owner insisted that I was there and he did an Impeccable job handling the rims. I felt very special.

 

I had the manager of a local parts place tell me that they didn't have ANYTHING for a Ferrari. I said "Not even light bulbs?"

He said "Not even light bulbs"....

I didn't realize that these cars were THAT exclusive

 

Most of my clients don't talk about it. Neither do I unless around Ferrari people. Most prefer no one knew.

I have a new dentist. As soon as my hygenist (a friend) told him we have one and I am in the Ferrari business I started to make the guys boat payments for him. I am in the market for another new dentist.

Some people have these cars because the car impresses them.

Some have them because they impress everyone else.

 

Exactly. If you want to see someone start to act a little weird, mention the F-car.

This thread cracks me up! I know you guys get people trying to rip you off all the time thinking you're made of money. I don't ever have to deal with that luckily; I don't tell everyone I have a Lotus as I doubt anyone cares, but if the subject of cars comes up....:

Them: What kind of car is that?

Me: It's a Lotus.

Them: Who makes it?

Me: Lotus.

Them: Oh. That's a Pontiac, right?

Me: Um...sure.

BUT, I will say, around car guys, they all go NUTS. They've never seen a Europa except in pictures. No matter that 5 of my cars will buy one Boxer, I always get smiles and lots of questions.

Lotus is fairly exclusive, but for something rare as hen's teeth, think...TVR.
