soup kitchen international is amazing. and the lobster bisque (sp?) is to die for. the experience is worth the trip. i think of it kind of like when you were around 6, and you were invited to your friend's house for dinner. just behave in front of the parents, and you should be fine. misbehave, and you get sent home.

Too bad the original location is not open any longer but you can still go by and see the store front which is still there.

The Soup Man restaurants have franchised out across the country. Check there website, there may be one closer to where you live than having to go into the city.

BTW, the soup is fantastic, but a bit pricey.

There has been a Help Wanted sign for a pending Soup Man location in Morristown for three months or more. Not sure when they are going to finally get going on htis location.

Given what I saw of the Soup Man on a morning news program he must be one very difficult person to work for. Mercurial would be a nice description.

    what is considered"bad behavior"?

as evidenced in the clip, it certainly is not reaching over the glass "sneeze-covers", but what low-intelligence person would do that anyhow?

I would say its a bit rude to reach over the "glass walls" either way. She really should know better. Who wants people hanging and or reaching over their soup and have stuff fall in. Like her long sleeve shirt hanging over. Ha.

Thanks bro... but I was interested in his original location ... or the one that the Seinfeld conflict derived from. I know it was in the 50's - West Side.. somewhere?

    259-A West 55th Street

The shop is closed during the winter months; a sign on its door explains that Yeganeh has traveled to Argentina (supposedly in search of new recipes). As of April 2006, the 55th Street location was closed, with the windows soaped over. A statement on Soup Kitchen International's website states that the 55th Street location and the entire building wall next to it are available "for sale or lease" until December of 2019.
