Damn, if this isn't the worst. A couple weeks ago my right eye was itching kind of in the outer corner. Rubbed it for a while and then took a look in the mirror. Had this white pimple-looking bump in the outer corner of my right eye. It's been two or three weeks and this thing just won't go away. I tried to pop it but that was just painful as all hell. Anyone know how to get rid of this? I've tried hot compresses and some eye stuff from CVS bit no go. I think it's a sty.

I got one, went to the Ophthalmologist and he gave me a prescription for drops and a cream to put in it. I think it was an antibiotic. It went away in about a week. I guess it is an infection in there like a pimple.

It is possible to try and pop it as they are usually on the inside of the eyelid, on the edge most likely. You can turn the lid inside out a bit and get to it. I think it would be best to leave it alone and go to the doctor.

You all think this is a Dr. required deal? Who do you see for this? A regular doc?

No, it's not in the eye, it's on the right corner where your eyelashes end.

Yeah, it's been driving me nuts. It's not little, kind of looks like a pimple. I cannot stand to even look at it. What I need to know is whether I can just go to a regular doc for this.

I think this kind of crap happens more as you age.

they usually only last a couple of days. you probably rubbed the ****ing thing raw. maybe if you stopped looking a skanky chicks you wouldnt have this problem. but since your a good guy i will give you a remedy----- warm wet tea bag on the infected area, hold it there for about a half hr every few hrs. this usually works without flaw. a word of advise- wash your hands before you rub your eyes.

Skanky hoes find me. I could tell you some stories - luckily it's only my eye that is giving me trouble. If we ever meet, ask me to spill the beanz.

I'll give that teabag thing a try, thanks.

WHAT the hell causes this? Is it an ingrown eyelash? A pimple? Clogged pore? Seems too hard to be a pimple.

Ophthalmologist would be the best as they see it all the time and would know the best course of drugs to treat it.

They are the M.D. eye doctors, the guys that just tell you what glasses to get at the malls are optometrists. You need to see a M.D.

well, . ---- its usually caused by obstruction of an oil producing or meibomian gland. also after you use the warm tea bag you want to massage the area gently.
now show me some fake tits.

As an ophthalmolgist myself, I usually recommend treatment with hot compresses 4 times daily and antibiotic eye drops or ointment. If it fails to improve after 1 or 2 weeks then incision and drainage is performed which is a minor office procedure.

It is best for you see an ophthalmologist since they are eye MDs and have the most experience in treating conditions of the eye and eyelids. If you see your primary care physician or internest, they will likely refer you to an ophthalmologist anyway.

What he said, 'cept I only play a doc on the 'net.

If caught early enough, warm compress does the trick. Just go to the doc.

If you were using folk mexican medicine, you'd use a dog's tail. (There's a story behind the preceding sentence)

Where can you get boric acid now-a-days?

My dad has a popped blood vessel in the left corner of his eye since he was in junior high. Apparently, they were all making fun of some girl, everyone stopped except my dad who likes to push things to the limit and she hit him. HAHA, I laugh my ass off every time i hear that story. Guess he deserved it, or God was punishing him for that and making nuns cry.

My regular doctor said to use hot compresses and to wash 3-4 times a day with a Qtip and antibacterial soap, try to get it out, etc. I did and got rid of the nastiest part (whitehead) and let it go. It definitely subsided quickly with this treatment but after a while, I noticed the 'scar' tissue wasn't really going away, and he said that the infection might have been buried a bit deeper, and that it might require surgery to cut and drain. I wasn't a huge fan of the idea, so I asked if there were alternatives...he suggested the phisoderm q-tips which worked great (although, mine was on my bottom lid...at Xmas my father ended up with a similar thing on his upper lid, and doctor told him to absolutely not use phisoderm as it could get into his eye and get ugly) which also helped quite a bit...that said, I still have a bit of noticeable pinkness in the area where my eyelashes no longer grow (I'm pretty sure mine was an infected eyelash folicle, so I try not to rub my eyes anymore)...

Borax? Sorry to hijack, just noticed the question, but when I need ant killer, I usually use borax and powdered sugar to get the bastids. I thought that borax was essentially boric acid...
