This morning I flicked on the TV and caught the tail end of their infomercial on early morning Saturday TV. I logged on to their website and noticed that there were a few locations within just a few miles of my house. I was intrigued so I called up to have them send me more information and a free visitor's pass. I am assuming that the pass will get me into a high pressure sales pitch as to why it is the best thing since sliced bread, but I am wondering if there are any 'true life' stories here. I need patio furniture now and will be buying dining room furniture (table & chairs, buffet, etc.) as well as home office furniture this year and will be finishing my basement in the next 18 months or so. I don't need much but if the savings are really as great as they tout on their TV ads I think that there could be significant savings as long as their 'membership fees' don't exceed the price discounts.

Anyone have any experiences with them?

My dad was going to and said it was a scam (which when I first started seeing the commercials I thought the same). He redid his whole kitchen 2 years ago and was thinking about it.

Just search google...tons of stuff comes up quick.

Based upon everything I have read, DirectBuy is a scam.

Lady who works for me is using them... costs about $5000 for a 'membership' from what she said. She seems happy with it but was actually embarrassed to admit she's using them. Apparently they do in fact use high pressure sales tactics, and you have to sign all kinds of NDAs saying that you won't tell anyone about your experience, how the system works, what kinds of products they sell, and what kinds of prices you get. Seems completely sketchy...

I scheduled a meeting with them about 2 years ago and they just told me the time to come so I did. They went through the presentation and then told me/us that we could look around and see what they offer and look at the pricing. Well, they did not tell you to bring comparison pricing from other stores, but wanted you to take their word for it. They then hit you with the membership fee, which was $4500. I told them that I wanted to think about it and they said you cannot, I had to make a decision right there and if I said no I would not be allowed to come back and join. I said no way and the represenative said, have fun paying retail for the rest of your life. I got home and did a search and I am glad that I did not fall for that deal. Stay away!!!

I did do the google search on them and read all sorts of stories. But you know what they say about how bad news travels. It seemed to me that there is no way that a legitimate business could practice business this way. Looks like I will politely decline their invitation.

I never pay retail anyhow, all you have to do is know how to ask for a discount...dosen't everyone know this?
