do a little search here and you might find a thread or two talking about them and their reputable, scratch that, infamous owner.

I have not done a search...but I speak from experience...I would stay away from them...

Another place I was not happy with was Excell Auto Group.

BUT, this is MY recent personal experience and that of a colleagues.

So, based on that, I would do a search as suggested.

I have been buying and servicing my cars at The Collection for years. I have never had a problem with them. Yes, it is an authorized Ferrari dealer and has been for a long time. I bought 2 430s from them and am scheduled to buy 2 458s. If you want to buy, ask for George Jaile. If you need service, ask for Scott. Tell them Lambo Girl sent you.

According to the miami herald, owner Ken Gorin has had numerous DUI, Cocaine, and even an indecent exposure arrest..

The Collection is slow and expensive, but they are an authorized Ferrari dealer.

While I understand Mark's dissatisfaction with them, I would imagine the problem was an isolated incident and they don't make a habit of totaling customer's cars. It is a shame they did not step up to the plate to his satisfaction without the threat of legal action. That was wrong and I would not purchase again from them if it had happened to me.

Although Ken Gorin obviously has issues, he is not the owner, he is an employee with minority ownership. Granted, Gorin runs the place, but Hugo Colombo is the owner.

George Jaile is still there, although in diminished capacity from my understanding.

On the other hand, there are lots of fine people working there. The mechanic that works on my car is very good and explains everything to me well. The price is high, but his work is good. The salesman I am working with now is very good, in contrast with the last one which was your typical arrogant Ferrari salesguy.

I would not write them off as 'bad'- it all depends, like in any other business, whom you are dealing with at any given time. Although Ken Gorin sure sounds like a sleazebucket, you will likely never have to deal with him. It is unfortunate Mark had to.

Charlie, the number of disatisfied customers with The Collection is nothing to be ignored. Ugo Colombo or John Doe may be the owner, but since Ken Gorin is listed as President, this means he is at the helm, and responsible of what is going on in the entire dealership.
And if they are expensive or not, of course it is the customer's final decision to do business with them. Everybody is on the same frequency here.
However, not answering or returning telephone calls from established (and potential)customers, drastically overshadows whatever degree of satisfaction already existed, and yes, it is totally unacceptable. This is the main reason, many people like myself, don't do business with them.

George is there. I sat with him for an hour last week picking out options for a 458.

I have dealt with the Collection longer then some of you have been alive - I bought my first car back in 1984 - different owners then - but I have bought 4 cars from them(3 Ferraris) in the last 5 years - I have never had a problem with them and got the best of care - don't belive everything you read on these posts - one of the posters has had issues with the Collection not car related - I am not standing up for Gorin - never met him and don't care to meet him but as with all Fchat posts, be carefull - you never know someones agenda

While some people, like yourself, never had any problems with The Collection, the undisputed fact is, the scale weights more in favor of those who had bad experiences.
Me, and many other F Chatters have a lot to thank this site, for making ourselves more knowledgeable of F Cars, and aware of potential situations which could well lead us into trouble. And I would rather believe fellow F Chatters opinions, than taking advise from any automobile dealer.
Please be more precise when you say "one of the posters had issues with the Collection not car related". Perhaps this person was trying to buy lumber or cuban coffee over there. Then I would agree with you.
