    Hey there Everyone,

Don't you just love going to racing events like Sebring? I know I do and I am really hoping to be able to go to Sebring this year, but I am having some difficulty with finding a place to stay that is in the same time zone as the track.

Does anyone have any experience they would be willing to share that would give me some help with this interesting problem?

The event is basically from March 14th - 16th, so I am looking for a solution for all three days and nights.

    Thanks for any help,

    Erik Johnson

Hi Erik, even though there have been many new hotels
built in the Sebring area over the past decade, finding rooms
even two plus months out from race week is difficult.

To find a room, it's best to fan out from Sebring to
nearby towns such as Avon Park or Lake Placid. If those
don't pan out, then I've had friends who got lucky at the
last possible moment and found rooms in Lake Wales
    or Wauchula.

Others may be content to stay as far away as Orlando
but that becomes a lot of round trip driving every day.

A lot of people in the Sebring-Avon Park-Lake Placid area
put race fans up in their homes. Perhaps check Craigslist
    for that.

The other option is camping out at the track. But, be
aware your neighbors could be local moonshiners anxious to
    share their product!

I've been at Sebring the last four years or so. I usually stay 45 minutes to an hour north of town and have found the rates to be reasonable and access relatively good. I've generally been able to book a room through Hotels.com as late as two weeks prior to the race.

We are renting an RV through camp USA. We will be on turn three. You can pm me for more info. You are right there. They set up and stock it with food. Larger and better than a hotel room.

Camping inside the circuit is a lot of fun, but you may not get a lot of sleep. Two years ago, we had a self contained RV and parked it (for free), just outside the gate in the general parking area, which is a big grassy field. We got a great night's sleep on Friday and Saturday night and my eight year old son remained an innocent 8 year old.

Not sure if they have rednecks in Colorado, but Florida has plenty, especially inland. They seem to like to come to Sebring for the chance to get wasted, not so much for the race.

I walked through the infield with my daughter a few years ago. She was about 19. You can imagine what that was like. It's a good thing I don't carry a firearm, because it would have been difficult to control myself.

We stayed at Chateau Elan that year.

I'll be there driving a GTC car. Feel free to stop by and say Hi if you find yourself in the pits!

There is general admission at Sebring. It is just crazy but over by turn 14 through 17 is very quite. I was at turn 15 last year. I slept just fine.
