I have responed to my invitation, paid the fees, made my hotel reservations and had my tux dry-cleaned....I'm ready to go! FYI, if you want to go you need to complete an application and pay the fees. Go to www.ferrarifrenchquarterclassic.com for details. My wife and I are driving the old Boxer down along with Terry and his wife and their Daytona. If we get more folks from the Atlanta area going, we can have a Ferrari caravan!

Frank never said we were not flying....

Considering drive time to the airport, security checkpoints, baggage check, wait at the gate, taxi, flight time, offload at gate, baggage pickup, get a cab, ride to hotel..... are you sure flying by plane is faster?

Im thinking a good radar detector, deserted highway through the middle of nowhere Alabama and Lousiana and a sharp lookout in the passenger seat will make for some pretty good average times. The Daytona is really in a sweet spot cruising at around 120 :)

The vintage v12 team has just taken the lead as the flat 12 stops for fuel......

Here comes the Boxer now,......roaring up in T Springer's rear view...

But WAIT! Behind that billboard lurks Georgia's Finest, with a thick Ticket Book and fresh ink pens.........

The only law enforcement vehicles in any state we will passing through capable of running down either the Daytona or Boxer on the highway dont use the highways at all.... they fly. Of coarse you cannot outrun the radio....

We of coarse will be sane. When I drove last December to Cape Coral FL from Atlanta it took me just over 7 1/2 hours. I averaged about 88 mph including one fuel stop. Lots of cruising at around 100 - 105. Surprisingly enough, there was a fair amount of traffic flowing at the same speed. Radar detector only required us to slow down 3 times and we had plenty of warning each time. When you get out away from the major cities and are just cruising across country, the cops are spread very thin and the traffic is very light. If the weather and road are clear... why NOT cruise at 100?

I honestly think having a set speed limit on such roads is silly. The speed limit on rural limited access highways where the straight-aways are 10 miles long and the curves are safe at 130 should be "prudent for conditions". There is absolutely NOTHING unsafe about cruising at 125mph in Daytona under such conditions. Of coarse, the law would also have to demand proper left lane usage and enforcement....

Did any of you see where a Dodge Magnum out ran the police on the south side of town last week. The radios didn't help.
