    Just curious if anyone is planning on this. Probably won't work for me, as I have previous plans:

    =====
    Warbird Chapparal - A West Texas Speed Spectacular

    Oct 2 & 3, 2004

    Racecars and warplanes are a great combination. Come with us to Midland, Texas on the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd, 2004 to experience both types of these marvelous machines.

    First, on Saturday morning, October 2nd at 10:00 AM, we will tour the Chaparral exhibit in the Petroleum Museum. The Chaparral racecars were developed in the 1960s by Jim Hall and were revolutionary. He was first to use wings and other downforce devices on racecars. If he can fit us into his schedule, we may meet Jim Hall and see his Rattlesnake Raceway where he built and tested his cars. Go to www.petroleummuseum.org for more details.

    Second, we go on Sunday to the Midland International Airport for the annual air show of the Confederate/Commemorative Air Force. Tour the organization's museum and watch World War II aircraft go through their paces. Go to www.commemorativeairforce.org for more information.

    Contact Dale Webster at 512-918-0732 or [email protected] for information on the event and hotels.

    I am most likely going as it is only an hours drive from me. I missed the Chaparral dedication and I don't want to miss this.

    This is what I was telling you guys about for a long time now. The Airshow is absolutely tremendous and going to the Petroleum Museum to see Jim Halls supercars is a great bonus. The Museum is only about four miles from the airport so it will be an easy commute.

    If you go out stay in Midland and party in Odessa. Let's just say that the voice of experience speaks here. It is like Dallas and Fort Worth. MIdland is the white collar town and Odessa is the blue collar. People get wild and crazy in Odessa but tend to get a little more rambunctious closer to cloing time. So plan on leaving before everything closes for the evening.

    I will see how my schedule looks. My mom lives in Big Spring, just 45 miles east of the airport and I am sure that she would like to see her son again, or at least I think she would.

    I have been to the museum and it was really cool. Add cars and a show and it should be great. I will be in Bora Bora, so I cant go, but if anyone does go, make sure to drive a little further and go to Ft. Davis. Great drive on the road south of I -10. Ft. Davis is an actual calvary fort and there is also teh McDonald Observatory.
