A couple of us are going early saturday morning to see the car auction. We will probably leave my place around 7am, so could meet there or the rest stop 60 miles east of Dallas. Should be fun to watch.

The memoribilia goes on sale friday, and you can sign on next wednesday at www.rmauction.com to be able to buy online. There is a 5% premium on top of the 15% regular fee to buy it that way. You can now see all the items on this website. There was a lot more stuff than I ever imagined!

Me and my dad are thinking of flying into DFW in the wee hours Sunday a.m. and driving over. Looks like a once-in-a-lifetime event for sure!

Hate to see you expend effort and end up in marshall on a sunday morning after they have rolled up the sidewalk (notice singular usage) and put the cop on vacation

My plans have changed, and now going on Friday. Haven't heard from you jimpo1. Anyone see anything they can't live without?

Signed up the GT for the car show at the Lamborghini Dallas Concorso Saturday. Hoping to do at least one session on the 1.3. Hey Rob C., is Big Bend Villa open that day?

I'll be out there with Nicola for the track day. Just look for the Mystery Machine/A Team van with tent.

Trying to decide if I really want to spend the $$. Had to write a check to the taxman yesterday, still catching my breath after that one.

I'll be there, registered to bid!!!

With all of the older, collector-type cars in the sale, I wonder what his 1400 mile 355 spider will bring????
I may have to bring the checkbook :)

Just got back from the auction, and I am watching it online. Things started out cheap, for some older toy cars, but ramped up quickly on the nicer items. Never put in a bid, but wanted to on 3 or 4 items that just got too high too quickly.

The way they displayed all the "stuff" was great. You walked through a line of pedal cars and go karts, then a line of 20 perfect motorcycles on each side. About half he cars were outside on the lawn. All the memoribilia was on long tables in one of the coach houses.

I hope to snag a couple of the planes later, and really want to see what the cars go for tomorrow.

Highlight of the day was shaking the hand of Carroll Shelby. He brought a big cargo van in case he bought anything. I heard from Gene's son, that the night before, Shelby said he didn't see how one man could amass a collection like this. When I mentioned I was a friend of Bill Neale, he responded by saying " and you're not in jail?"

    It was a fun day!

I just checked the RM site, and they aren't posted yet. Watched the big planes, and they started at $750 with most going for $1,500 and up. Looked like most stuff went for at or above value, so I hope the cars did as well.
