Any of you guys (and gals) going to the track day at Winton next Saturday? I'm really looking forward to my first outing in the 550. Only regret is that it isn't PI or the Creek.
Don't worry about times, just enjoy yourself. Unless you are in a 550GT, you won't be anywhere near the front of the field. I doubt I will be there this time, as my Michelotto is unlikely to be finished in time. I will definitely be at Phillip Island early March for the FCA day.
I will miss you and your Michelotto, but hope to see you at the Island. Stephen, I think there is a dinner on Friday night at Benalla.
Just going to get comfortable with the car and enjoy myself. I'll look forward to catching you guys at the island. I've done so many laps there, I reckon I could do a lap blindfolded.
Tweaked 550 on Corsa's (maybe)....wouldn't be too far down the order with a sensible steerer...... Sub 1.40 in the right conditions without risking life and limb.
No worries Andrew. Phillip Island is only a few weeks down the track and you have had a ride around Winton already. If I was driving it could only be a disappointment after the ride you had with Alan Simonsen last time at Winton. I am eager to have a proper go at the Island as the last time the car only lasted 5 laps before the clutch **** itself. Maybe having Aircon on board jinxed me or something? As I recall Phil had some car trouble that day as well.....
So, you're agreeing with Scott then? 1.40 would be nowhere near the front of the field, unless no one else turns up! At this rate, actually, that looks entirely possible btw.
I'm feelin' the love between you two again. There is no way a 1700kg 550 is going to be as quick as a 355/360 around Winton. Now if I replaced the seats, front and rear bumpers and bonnet with CF, we'd be talking 1500-1550kg and a whole new ball game. That reminds me, Scott I want to "borrow" the seats from your CSL permenantly.
Which seats do you mean, the standard or the Ferrari Sports seats now fitted? I doubt that I would sell them but you never know. I would sell the sports exhaust system that I got for it though, if you are interested.
hmmm, I reckon the Snowden 550 will go ok up against a stockish 355/360. Maybe we should bring Allan along for a steer of it to tell us once and for all. Seeing as Scott isn't that keen on trying to get the N-GT there, I now have a car space in the 2 car truck....If anyone wants to fill it, let me know asap or I'll cancel the truck and use a single.
Phil Count me in, I learnt long ago never to count on being able to drive/ride home after a track day!
I am more than keen to try the N-GT at Winton. The reason for not going this time around is that it is impossible to get everything done properly in time.
The Ferrari seats you sacreligous swine! Oops, must remember insult person AFTER I have got what I want, not before... I want to replace the 550 seats with factory sports seats or a close equivalent. Does the exhaust get rid of the M3 fart? Yasmins car is decidedly embarrassing with the rattly fart happening all the time.
I had an idea that you meant the Ferrari Sports seats. Have you ever priced them through Dixon's? North of $20k last time I checked. I got mine from Ebay out of New York; but they are the only set that I have ever seen come up. If you are not in any hurry I would sell them when I sell the CSL. Not sure what you mean re the M3 sound? They have a distinctive "rattle" or "rasp", especially when cold. That is still there with the exhaust. My CSL is a daily driver and the full system was too much. I settled on the CATS alone because it was a nice complement to the induction noise. The full system meant you couldn't hear the CSL's distinctive induction roar properly.
So Peter, are you bringing your 355 and it's Hoosiers. It'll be a good test if Allan can come. I haven't rang him yet, but I know he is going to Daytona...when is that? I remember Francis Placentino did a 1.35 in his 355 with my wife in the passenger seat...what's the known best for 355?? I think you underrate 550 track performance, but I guess until we get a regular runner, we have little info to go on.
No Allan this time, going to Daytona tues-tues. No drive, just helmet in hand and a baseball bat, then he'll hang around until a quiet moment and belt some poor unsuspecting rent a driver in a good car over the back of his head.....
Not likely that I'm going. Francis did a mid 1.34 on hooisers. He's good, but he's no Allan. I think Bowe did a 1.29 in a challenge when they were racing them....also not a fair comparison, though. I don't underrate them...i rate them exactly how they deserve to be rated.
