My little nieces birthdays are this weekend (well the party is anyway). Their divorcee father is a real deadbeat - I'll bite my tongue but I have nothing good to say. Anyway, in a brilliant repeat of his past performances, he has promised the kids a Wii for their birthday, only to tell their mom (by text message no less) that he is short on cash and can't find a Wii, and won't be getting them one or showing up for their birthday party.

    Wonderful.

The kids grandmother got them the steering wheel, my mom got them a game, and now...... no Wii.

I figured by now they would be in stores. Nope! I tried calling Walmart/BB/CircuitCity and they just say "occasionally" they get them in but they don't have any right now and don't know when they will get any. I can get one on eBay but it kinda burns me up paying $400+ when I think retail is $250.

Anyone got a line on one? Maybe you've seen some at your local store? If anyone has one or can get one, PLEASE let me know - if anyone would be willing to pick it up I would more than happily PayPal you the money + shipping and provide some beer or cigars or something, or overnight you a money order or cash or whatever works for you. I can give my UPS account # for shipping and arrange for it to be picked up by UPS - no hassle for you at all and of course I'll pay in full before I expect it to be sent.

I was hoping out of thousands of f-chatters, maybe someone has a store locally that has them? If so, please hit me up - hoping to come through for the kids and not have them let down *again*.

    Mike,

My brother has one available. He bought it for himself, plugged it in for about 15 minutes and realized he is never going to have time to use it. He was going to return it tomorrow. So, the box has been opened, but it is brand new and still has all the packaging. He also has a couple games and extra controllers. I just called him and he said he would sell everything for whatever he paid at Best Buy. I think the Wii was $250 and the games and controllers were $180. I'll find out for sure a little later if you would like.

    Awesome!

Is he willing to sell the Wii alone? Between me and my family, we have gotten the kids a few games and 4 controllers/nunchucks and the steering wheel. Let me know if he'll sell the Wii alone and if so this just may work!

If not, let me know which BB and I will wait behind him in line to buy it once they put it back on the shelf :D LOL

Yes, he will sell just the Wii, if that is all you want. Below is the list he just sent me. If there is anything you could use just let me know. If not, he'll just return them.
He did open the Tiger Woods game, so he can't return that. He said he would sell that one for $25.

    the Wii was $250
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 $50
Super Smash Brothers Brawl $50 (supposed to be one of the most popular games)
    Wii Nunchuk Controller $20
    Wii Classic Controller $20
    Wii Wireless Remote $40

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is fun, Mario Kart Wii is fun as well. My cousin did the same, bought one and then returned it a few weeks later, I told her to sell it on Ebay and get some extra money for it. SRT Mike, Fchat to the rescue. :D That literally took like 30-40 minutes if this deal falls through.

I've been looking for one on and off since January. I agree that it's completely ridiculous that 18 months after launch Nintendo still cant produce enough units to fill demand. I walk into Best Buy and I see PS3s by the palette, stacked all the way to the ceiling, but no Wii. Crazy - I'll probably have to wait until they come out with the next one before I'll be able to walk into a store and buy one.

How hard could it be to turn the the little assembly line speed-control knob to "11", anyways?

You mean "turn the knob to 4" right? I had to use a favor and spend $200 to get one for a gift a couple of months back.

    " . . . but this one goes to 11 . . . " Sorry, obscure 'Tap' reference ;^).

I actually can't fathom that it could be so hard to gear up production a full 2 Christmases after launch.

I got one on launch, played for 5 hours and then sold it, I just didn't like it, bad graphics, no good racing, and after 5 hours your arms hurt.

I'd gladly ship you my unopened box of the Wii Sports bundle, but I think it's cheaper down in the US to begin with. Let me know VIA PM if you still want one, we'll work something out.

He wants to sell Tiger Woods 08 for $25? Let me know. I got lucky three weeks ago, walked into Supertarget and they had an entire PALLET (25 wii's) sitting there. I was in shock!

Yes a big thank you to JayO and F-Chat for coming through for me (actually coming through for Taylor and Danielle - 10yrs and 7yrs old, respectively).

They are having a roller skating party. I am one of the 3 supervising adults. I haven't rollerskated in YEARS. I don't actually have to go out and skate, but I like being a big kid hanging out with the kids (and I'll just say I had to do it as a responsible supervising adult - shhh don't tell).

Then it's back to their house for a BBQ and cake.... and PRESENTS. I am sure the kids will be THRILLED. I've brought my Wii to them a few times and they got hooked on it. I'd have gladly given them mine but it's kind of lame to gift someone something you've been using for several months :)

They are great kids - a bit spoiled (everyone gives them attention since Dad generally doesn't). I got them a rabbit for Xmas... the Rabbit took over the house and is the boss of the dog and the cat. I'll have to remind them not to step on the rabbit while they are jumping around playing Wii games :)... anyways, back to work, I'm doting.

    Thanks again folks!

Be sure to put a LARGE tag on it that shows who it's FROM.

Congrats on finding it! Those of us that are willing to do the right thing are frequently called on to pick up the slack of those that don't.
