Well I guess not I am going to experiment with mine, maybe make a custom carbon fibre exhaust, I just can't bring myself to pay $4k for $50 worth of stainless steel even though its blessed by Italian Virgins and made by artisians who passed the secrets along for a muffler for generations id rather save the $$ for $1000 bottles of wax with real gold flakes:)

I have a tubi on my 355 but if didnot ......I would modify the stock muffler. First it is worth nothing and secondly the price of aftermarket mufflers for these cars are outrageous.
I previously had a Acura NSX and being mid engined it has a crossflow muffler design as well.
I balked at buying a tubi and cut open the muffler.....by removing baffles you can make it as loud as you want.
You just need to be carefull and not make it too loud. Its easy to reweld...just remove the baffles in stages.
p.s. I would cut open the sheetmetal on the back side, centre portion of the muffler with a cutting disk.....allows you to reuse the original steel panel when you mig it back up.
p.s. 2 I did modify my race tubi muffler though.....I cut off the tips and welded flanges allowing me to remove/install the muffler with out having to remove the rear bumper. Same idea as the 360 or 430 design.

Cool thanks, I agree stock mufflers are worth more in scrap value so why not experiment plus you know it will fit back in properly.

+1, if I had a stock exhaust I would absolutely do this. The only 'looks' part you'll be missing is the larger exhaust tips, but you can always buy some of those and weld them on nicely.
