I really just want a set of track rims for the CS. I am not big on the bling of HRE's, and they can powdercoat them black (for both silver and a red CS). They say they have done CS's in the past.

Any opinions on the strength or weight advantages of a forged HRE for track use rather than the cast BBS CS stockers?

    Thanks!

I have, I put a set of 841r's on mine and I would NOT reccomend them for track use. They only weigh 1 pound more but aren't as strong. PM me if you want the details.

I have HRE 840R's on mine and they are absolutely beautiful. However, HRE and track do NOT go together. Stick with the stock rims for the track and change them to HRE's when pimpin da hoes.

HRE can only make the 8 series work if the car has carbon brake, both 360CS or F430 with carbon brake. the 8 series certainly is not a good choice for track use. i don't see any other good choice besides the stock wheel for ur need...

So, I guess the concensus is no HRE's for track... thanks all!

I haven't heard anything on CCW... Anyone running these or Kinesis on the track?

I recently bought an extra set of stockers, but they seem soft and bending a forged rim back into shape is scary to me. Notice I did say "seem soft" .. not they are soft... I have no stats to back any thing I say. :)

CCW's hold up very well on the track. Not the SP500's (at least not that I'm aware of, I haven't seen anyone run them on the track) but their classic design works very well. Alot of Supra, Corvette, and Viper guys use them for the track. They're lightweight, affordable (less than $3k), high quality, and come with service to match.

If you want a set give me a call at 405-410-8149 or email me at [email protected] .

Also I don't know if you guys are aware but HRE makes wheels for track racing purposes. They're not listed on the website, but I can get them. They look nice and there's alot of 360 guys running them. Not sure about CS, but I'll ask Mike over there.

Baasha- LOL your comment caught me off-guard pretty funny though, thanks for the laugh.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Marshall, I had ccw's on a viper that I tracked and was quite happy with them. John makes a great wheel and they are very easy to deal with. However, HRE, does make a very lightweight competition wheel that is no frills and I believe is a bit lighter than the ccw's. Check with Guy at HRE, he is the man to talk to. 760 598 1960.

I have my own statistics of the stock wheels on the street. 2 x new RHS fronts at 1700 USD each and 2 x refinishing for bends all from potholes in MA. Its the price of entry I suppose. No problems with them on the track mind you. 19" wheels + rubber band tires + MA winters = more problems than with a stock 360.

I have a set of black mat finished HRE Competition 19" wheels on order for my CS. I love the stock wheels and will keep them but will get this second set for change in looks once in a while and went with the lightweight HRE's to try and keep the integrity of what the CS is. The HRE comp wheels are lighter than the stock cs wheels. I'll post pics once I get them.

I'm looking forward to seeing those. HRE told me that they could not make the 19" Competition series wheels fit over the carbo-ceramic brake setup on either the CS or 430 -- I had to get the 8 series reverse-lip design for proper brake fitment/clearance.

I got a call today that the wheels have been shipped. HRE can only make the 840 series AND the competition series for the CS or 360 with ceramic brakes. Not sure if 430 is any different.

Well, I finally got a chance to mount my tires and HRE c21 competition custom made wheels on my CS and THEY DONT FIT. The bolts on the back of the wheel dont clear the brakes and the wheel is not big enough diameter because of the step lip. HRE has been very appologetic and is working on a fix for me but it wont be the competition wheel. HRE knew it was for a cs and i even reminded them of the carbon brakes. Even with the mistake HRE has been great and now have a set of 840R on the way. I guess i will use stock wheels for track and these for street. So Jack was right. Only 840 series will fit on CS.

Thats a bummer... are they going to do a custom competition wheel or are you going to go 840s?

Do not let them talk you into the 8 series if you ever plan to track your car. I can speak from first hand experience that the spokes will flex under heat and corning and they will hit your calipers. Trust me.

That is ridiculous!! (the wheel not your comment) A wheel sold as "performance" should not do this, track or not. I can see that a non comp wheel lip will bend or have slight disfiguration but spokes flexing to the point of caliper impact!?!? Has this happened to you?

It did indeed, I have an extra set of front wheels sitting in my garage to prove it. HRE use to be a great company prior to changing hands. They made a new set with a greater offset but I would never use them to track the car again. The first set took paint off the caliper and the brake line - not a good feeling hearing a clicking sound at 155mph heading into the Safety Pin at Sebring.

i have 18" hre on my car and have used them about 10 times past 2 years without problems on track. im not sure what the model is but they are street rims and have the 'Y' spoke pattern similar to the cs wheel.

they make rims specifically for racing that are supposed to be very light weight. maybe that is where problem lies?

If you want track rims just go to www.ccwheel.com They have the best purpose built race wheels for the money in custom offsets. If you want to spend some more money Fikse's or Kenesis are great wheels, but HRE isn't a credible performance wheel in my opinion.

i have had about 6 sets of CCW's from their drag package for the Corvette, to autox sets, and ton of race wheels. Never had one problem.

My brother got their newest wheel about 3 months ago to clear his Big brake package. We went to Spring Mountain Raceway in NV and when we got back there were 4 boxes on the front porch. John at CCW had made a slight change to the wheel design and had sent out a complete replacement set with 4 new Pilot Cup Sports attached with a note saying "send me back your used wheels and tires, thought you would like this set better"

    Thats customer service.
