I need to replace my air mass meters(93 512tr). I called the fshop and they want $1200 US each, does anyone have a cross ref# that works? I finally narrowed the idling problem( i think) down to bad air meters and fuel pressure regs. When the air meter malfunctions the ECM shuts it down and tells the throttle potentiometer to regulate the air/fuel mixture and idle. When this happens the car go's into safe mode, WOW they thought of everything! Anyone have an opinion? Im going to do this in January when i do the diff repair, cant wait :(

    Merry Christmas, Tommy

Most of the time they are NOT FAULTY ... so dont spend money on them. If the wire is broken, it can be repaired...

I almost bought new ones ... it was proven afterwards NOT to be faulty at all...

I also bought cheap Chin. replacements (for Saab 9000) of about $ 100 each "just in case" but afterwards they proved to be "inaccurate" by the 512TR ECU !

I am sure you swapped left to right ... did you ? Nobody else around with a 512TR/M ... it's wintertime and thes MAF's are frightfully expensive ...

    So please beware ... ;)

    melvok,
I read the WSM again for the 100th time and realized that i was not turning the car off right.
The manual said to turn the ignition switch back one turn (when the car was running) and let the air flow meter do its cleaning procedure before the switch is turned off completely. I think the page number is around 115 in the WSM. Ive never done this before until now but it seems to help with the idle problem.
