Just curious whether anyone here, or someone you know, has a ferrari damaged and/or need of major service that is just sitting in a garage/storage cause the owner doesn't have the funds to repair?
I'm not looking to buy one..just wanna read some stories.

yea, I operate my fleet pretty lightly...

#20405 is still on the road after running the Texas Mile event, down in Goliad..

#22641 is out at the Ranch, saw it today...poor thing needs new fuel lines and filler neck coupling, along with mounting fresh Goodyears (I have them) and timing belts and bearings...it's out in the rain, rusting up.....

#22127 OMG! I went by to wish Ferda a Happy Holiday and pay for my last oil change and filter, it went like this:
(I had taken it in chasing an ignition misfire, after putting new plugs and coils on it that didn't solve the problem..)

"Ya, we started on it only last week, we have been so busy..... your carburetors had internal leakage, we cannot tune ze motor properly with these conditions, so these four buckets are your Webers..."

Alan looks down into four plastic buckets full of springs brass stuff, floats, bodies, who the Hell KNOWS what......

"Then, your distributors, we inspect them and make sure they are advancing......'dis is very important to your operation of ze engine........so these two buckets are your Magnetti Marelli units."

Alan looks down into two more plastic buckets, full of castings, springs, bushing and stuff.......

"I think you should be running really good by late January sometime..."

OMG! What's THAT gonna cost!!!!!! ROTFLMAO!

I told him I'd need three weeks payroll most likely so give me that much notice to pick up the car!!!!!!! :D :D :D

And for this, you should be shot. Sell it, let somebody take care of it. Use the $$ to pay for proper maintenance for the other 2! :p

In the early 70's, a physician friend of my Dad's had a 275 GTB. He bought it new, and once drove it to a baseball game in San Francisco. While the car was parked at the game, somebody smashed it's windshield. He tried to replace the glass, but couldn't find any at any price. Rather than sell it in that condition and at current prices for that car, he parked it, and it sat for years in his garage. Fast forward to the mid 80's, and the market changes of that time. Add in finding a windshield, and you can imagine how holding on to that car paid off.

It'd be rusting inside as well, Jimpo.....

..maybe if these beyotchs would quit throwing me out of houses I've paid for????

    ..must be doing something wrong.......

At least the tornadoe damage to the barn was on the other side....and you'd never think a Longhorn could clear the hood in one jump, but she did.......

When I met Dick Little, he was in the process of selling his ultra-rare 195 Inter (1951 Paris Auto Show car for Ghia)....he had started the restoration at KTR Engineering here in MA, but was getting bills/quotes that were WAY BEYOND obscene. Unfortunately, he had already stripped the old paint from the car and was half-way to putting it back together when he could no longer finish the project.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149075&highlight=195+inter+Geils

Dick LOVED the car, but could no longer restore/keep it for what people were demanding to do-justice to a vintage car like this one.

The hurricanes hitting the Gulf Coast were a turning point, I think......I had to move the cars from Houston as criminals were targeting them, breaking into her house to steal things and harm us, I was very close to killing somebody, so they had to go......

Garage never got built and I moved away......

So they are not so much "damaged" in any way, just "unused"........which is very hard on these cars.

The happiest ones are the ones that roll every day. I use #20405 to run errands on the weekends, drive the moisture out of the interior and dash guages......

I can always use some motivation to get the blue one rolling again, there's a NAPA in Waller right down from AJ's shop!

We'll get the parts there..... my brother would do cartwheels, to see it leave....

The blue one was a Ron Tonkin Portland car....78 year old Mr. Ed Hodel went 5K miles in 20 years, Valeria and I received it and it was 2,400 miles to get back home!

One of the best experiences in my life with her, not counting the back strain towards the end.....
