Before you get counsel involved you might call the county court clerk and ask her what it takes to pay the ticket down to a non-moving violation. Although several rural counties in Kansas require you to personally show up to do that.

Well you do not necessarily want to get 6 months probation either, you should be able to pay an increased fine and be done with it. It you get probation and you mess up somewhere else there could be repercussions in the speeding case. Just be very careful with something like that.

Im not worried about the probation. I have had a probation before and as long as the ticket doesn't end up on your record, your usually okay.

I'm interested in the details of the ticket. What detection equipment were you using...If any, and how did he tag you?

Morris is about 10 minutes away from the town I grew up in. Illinois is great for "court supervision". Just pay the additional fine (which can sometimes be substantial) and make sure you are eligible for court supervision. Even if you get another ticket during your supervision period, you can often get double up your supervision as long as they are not in the same county.

    "good lawyer"

Shame on you using those two words in the same sentence. That is just poor English. Excellent example of an oxymoron.

Were using a passport x50 8500 radar detector. the road was straight for miles and miles. a cop was on a bridge shooting lazer, who knows how far back he got us, could have been a mile and I would have never known. as soon as we went under the bridge, there were 4 cop cars lined up just picking people off that the sargent radio'd too. i wonder if i should invest in a lazer jammer lol

Hmmm. Looks like a good detector, wonder why it didn't give you more notice on straight level highway?

Because it's laser. Against a laser any detector is only good for a 2 minute advance warning that you'll soon be receiving a ticket.

You need a laser jamming system to buy you time(note, not defeat) against laser.

That sucks about your ticket, but I'd just call and ask the DA if you can pay a higher fine and get it reduced to a non-moving violation.

I encountered a sneaky trooper the other night. Was on the turnpike between Wichita and Topeka and my Valentine 1 usually is old faithfull along that route. It was just after sunset and getting dark but I recognized him approaching and slowed from 90mph down to 80mph. I was wondering why my detector hadn't gone off and was guessing he just wasn't running it. I glanced his way as he passed and when he was about 5 or 6 car lengths behind me, BOOM, he hit me with rear radar....tricky tricky... :-/ He didn't even tap his brakes though so he must've been after larger prey.
