I'm looking for someone in the Houston area who has experience installing a grass driveway. i.e. any of the various plastic mesh technologies that go under the grass to prevent rutting and protect the roots. I'm on a small lot in the city and there's too much hardscape in my back yard so I want to replace the existing gravel driveway. So far all of the manufacturer sites describe it as a DIY job, but I'd really rather have it done. The only real trick seems to be preparing and compacting the base sand/gravel course so a good landscaper should be able to do it. Any recommendations?

And, yes, I plan to drive the Ferrari on it.

No, but i have installed the product (Stabilitrack i think?) in public park accessways for parks equipment to cross without causing ruts. I would expect that any landscaper (even if unfamiliar with the product) would do the install quickly and efficiently... really a no brainer... build a level granular base appropriate for the local soil and moisture conditions, place the interlocking grid, fill grid with topsoil using a bobcat (skidsteer) and plant seed (sod can be planted as well by making a template of the grid and cutting tufts of sod and planting them in each cell)... with either method (seed is best) there is a time frame required for success and some die back due to driving on new shoots can occur, but assuming the soil is level or slightly less than the height of the grid even new shoots will survive. CAUTION - the cleaners you may use on the drive can cause damage... wash your cars somewhere else... an environmental safe no-touch car wash or else a custom detailing/wash shop.
post pics when you have it installed.

My rich brother (Microsoft billionaire, retired) paved his 1/2 mile driveway on
Camano, Island (WA) with a double layer of concrete architectural bricks
(the heavy duty 'pretty' kind), then had all the holes filled with quality topsoil and
good drainage. He then had planted a mixture of very short-growing grass,
some sort of moss, and these pretty little bluish flowers that seem to
ENJOY being driven over. From the highway, you'd never think it's a
heavily traveled driveway into his beachfront abode. Looks sweet. I'll
try to get some pix... in the summer it looks like a road from OZ, doesn't
need mowing, and the tall grass on the sides really sets his blue/green
    carpet driveway off!
