If you do, do I need to buy anything extra for Ferrari-specific functions?

Do you still have a valid subscription, or do you use it without one? If you use it without one, does it disable any functionality you might need for Ferrari?

I have a Thinkdiag 2, and it will soon expire. I am considering upgrading to a model that doesn't require a Wi-Fi or internet connection to use.

The whole launch line including the thinkdiag2 ( on an android) will give you the same exact functions on f430 ( minus remote diag function) as any of their expensive models - no need to spend the extra money
The difference of a thinkdiag vs the other x431 is that when the subscription expires - the other continue to work ( with annoying reminders) and the thinkdiag2 does not

Thinkdiag needs internet access, so I have to use my iPhone (less functionality) or my Android tablet, which needs wifi, or use my phone as a hotspot. This has hit me twice, where I had crappy cellphone and had to wait till I got out of "Radio Free America" to see what was wrong. I always take a tool with me on long drives, many of which do wind up in bad cell phone range.

I have the PROS Elite, but I still have the 2y of included subscription. Not sure whats going to happen afterwards. No additional modules required for Ferrari for the supported models. They are constantly updating because when I first purchased, it didn't have the Pista, but it does now. I assume the F8 will come soon and then the 296 way later.

I don't know which line of X431 I have, but the only real "hassle" of not having the subscription is every time you do use it, it'll yell at you that your subscription is expired and that you need to renew it. It doesn't disable any functionality though.

I have multiple scantools for work here (Snap-on, Autel, and Launch) and the only one I continuously keep up-to-date is my Snap-on. Whenever I turn my Autel on, it just gives me a warning my subscription is expired, I click ok, and move on with life. Given the Autel and Launch are darn near the same platforms, it's the exact same thing.

The majority of updates provided aren't even for exotic cars anyway. I bet 95% of the updates that I had done on the Autel before expiring was for crazy things like ADAS calibration on BMW or "better battery voltage monitoring" on Chevy Volt, etc.
