My (wife's) new '83 Mondial QV came missing one rear wheel lug bolt. PO has no idea where it went. Anyone know where I can get just one lug bolt without getting totally ripped off? The Ferrari UK site had them listed at a ridiculous figure.

    Thanks!

Try Rutlands. I seem to recall that when I was looking for lug nuts for the 16" wheels I got for racing on my '84 QV, that Rutland had a pretty good price on original chromed bolts. If you are looking for just a plain old non-chromed bolt, try a local speed shop (take one of the originals along for sizing). You might find a chromed one there that would work as well. Just be careful about getting a bolt longer than the original, as the holes bottom out on your hubs. I found a good source for alternate lug nuts. Check archives, and I'll look around, see if I can find the info on where I ended up buying a whole set for the new wheels.

I switched all mine to ones from esc tunning a while back. I might still have a decent original one from my 80 gtsi... may not be the right length but I'll check.

How is the length measured on these puppies? From the end of the threads to the base of the shoulder, or end to end, or threads only? I'm not sure how to measure it so I can order one in the right size. The ECS ones look fine, assuming they make one in the right size.

I have heard good things about Hill Engineering. I'll check them out, but between the weak dollar and shipping across the Atlantic, it can't be a very cost effective way to go for only one bolt! I was hoping to find something stateside!

    Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the reminder, guys. CRS is a major problem these days.

Yes, I got the bolts from ECS Tuning. They were great to deal with, and I paid around $2.95 each for them, non-chromed, for the Gotti wheels. Worked perfectly. They may offer chromed nuts as well. I called them up and they were very helpful getting the right thing, and shipped them right out to me. I didn't care if they were chromed, since the Gotti wheels were specifically for the track and autocross. I still have the original wheels and chromed lugs for "show" purposes, when I want them.

I've heard good things about Hill Engineering as well. Haven't dealt with them yet. The guys at Rutlands were easy to deal with as well, very helpful.

I would verify that the ECS bolts are chromed and have the same head shape, not like pictured....for $2.95 each, I bet they are not like the factory bolts.

Correct. For $2.95, they do not have the heads like the factory bolts and are not chromed. If they have them and are chromed, I'm sure they are more expensive.

OK, I measured them. They are 40 mm, the same size as the rear lugs in my 308 carb. (measured in the manner described in the pic above...from the end of hte threads to the base of the shoulder).

    I'll call around, thanks.

Meister, if you have one from the rear wheels of your GTSi, it will probably be right. If you want to sell me one, let me know!

    Thanks for the help gang!

Ya found it?? Thanks man! Sheesh, and I spent all this time working on a cool picture to post. Oh well, I'll post it anyway. (See? I really do have no life outside Ferrarichat.)

This is said missing bolt. (Well, technically, this is one of the non-missing bolts, but I'll bet that the missing one looked just like this one!)

    Bird,

Nice picture. But if all of your "non-missing" bolts look like that, I'd spend a little time cleaning up the threads before putting them back in. You've got quite a mess there. You might also want to get a thread chaser and clean the threads in the hubs as well. I know the on-going debate about anti-seize compound, but if it were mine, after cleaning them up, I'd put a very light coating of oil or grease on the threads to prevent further corrosion. Be sure to tighten by hand and use a torque wrench.

Glad the search is finally over.

I just got the car, and it is a driver, not a GQ. I haven't even had it on the lift yet to peek underneath. I use a little dab of lithium grease on the threads to keep them from seizing. Works well. But the grease gets dirty and looks grungy when you pull the bolts out.

I got all new bolts for the TR when I went with the 18" wheels from Hill Engineering. Very reasonably priced and look just like the originals.

I've got 8 original chorme ones left from my 80 GTSI. All are the same or better than the pic in this post but not perfect by any means. I think they are the long ones which would have come from the front wheels. The shank is 1 3/4" which translates to about 44 MM....
