My car is showing early signs of the headliner going to pot. I have cloth now but would love rip it out and change it over to leather. Has anyone done this to their car? It doesn't look like rocket science and I would consider trying it myself if I can source good leather. I have a donor leather headliner from a totaled car so I have a template. Its the wrong color for my car though and used ones that pop up for sale always look stressed from removal or stained and are ridiculously over priced for what they are. I figure leather would be much more forgiving to install than the cloth. Especially if I can also source some kind of thin semi-rigid insulation or board to glue it to.

    Black is what I need.

contact Coachtrim in Danbury, CT, ask for Johan or Brendon.

They are a high-end interior restoration shop, specializing in Ferrari and use OEM leather and alcantara. They are also great people who do phenomenal work. They have quite the collection of Poltrona leather

They can probably sell you the material, or perhaps figure a way to help.

Thanks, I wasn't seeing the kind of info I needed on Ebay to feel like I was making the right choice.

I'd be interested to learn what you find out. I'm at the same fork in the road of restore or replace. With the right leather and advice it does look like a very manageable job. I believe there was another thread on here where I saw someone mentioning they had done leather on theirs (just don't recall who and what model).
