Yes, maybe they did, that's why I ask why do some people limit their search to BMW, why not try and search other manufacturers? I know it's time consuming but it might be worth the effort.
I could save you the time and hassle of ebay. Let me know if it's working and what you were hoping to get for it. I think the last one on ebay went for something like $375.....
I'm just gonna list it on eBay; feel free to jump all over it. Tested it and it works perfectly. I'll get it listed tonight. I also think I'll list a few other parts that I accumulated during the restoration, as they are just sitting in the garage collecting dust.
Actually, I bought that BMW switch, as it did look close to the one on the 328 (even knowing the pin out was different on the back) but the BMW switch has a much greater degree of curvature than the 328 switch and is taller.
Sorry for the delay in listing the part, but I've been swamped at work. I have it up on eBay now. As you can see from the pics, the switch is flat: no curve to it at all. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130259851798
Hi all, Here is a pic if it can help anybody. If anyone coul tell me what is missing inside, i would appreciate. Best regards, Erick first pic normaly !
Hello France! I hope I can help you. I was able to fix my mirror switch about a year ago. I forgot how it all went together, so I just pulled it out of the car and took it apart. Oh, now I remember! Here is a picture to help... http://s475.photobucket.com/albums/rr113/mryan/?action=view¤t=IMG_0650-1.jpg **** Be careful! Tiny parts will shoot all over the place if you're not super super super careful!!!!! So, there are two parts to this switch. The smaller black plastic knob is used to control which mirror (left or right) will be adjusted. The bigger black plastic knob adjusts the direction of each mirror . Once the switch is opened: There should be a small spring and a ball in each hole# 1,2,3,4,5,6. Hole # 10, 11 are empty. There is a bigger spring in #7. #8 goes on top of spring #7. It is important to have #8 going the correct direction. The top of the spring should contact #8 right where I have drawn the red line. You can see how this contact will move side to side to connect right or left circuitry on the circuit board. ****Tip: It's tricky to keep the little ball in place on top of the spring while trying to hold #8 on the bigger spring and then slip the circuit board back in place. Put a small bit of vaseline on top of each small spring to hold the balls in place (vaseline or heavy paraffin oil actually also helps to improve sliding contact resistance consistency). The vaseline will be just the trick to keeping that little ball on the small springs while you carefully hold #8 in place and put the circuit board back on. You need 6 little metal balls that sit on 6 little metal springs. Best of luck with repairing this unobtanium part!
When i first got my car, I adjusted the mirrors to me and havent had to use the switch since, who knows, mabe the next time i use it it will break. Don't think i will tempt fate.
