I have finally decided that I am going to get a Porsche Carrera 2, but I hate paying full MSRP. I know deals are what you get when you develop a strong relationship with a particular dealership, but unfortunately I don't have the time nor money to do that at this point. I was hoping a fellow f-chatter might be able to help me out.

I am looking for a black on black regular 6spd Carrera 2 (not the S) with power seats & HID headlights.

Hope someone can help me out.

    Thanks in Advance

    * Yes I am aware a fellow f-chatter is selling an 06 carrera with only 3,000 miles, but I would prefer for my first porsche to be new. I am sure you understand

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I am going to do the European Delivery progam and drive the car around Europe for the summer, so it must not be built yet.

No promises....but I'll ask around at the dealership I work for. Personally, I think you'll have a rough time finding something below MSRP, but I don't know a whole lot. :) I'll ask for ya. The most they can say is "no", right? :)

thanks guys for your help. I know it's an uphill battle when it comes to getting deals on porsches, but I figured I'd test the waters before diving in and paying full MSRP.

    Thanks again

Don't be a fool and pay MSRP for any modern-era Porsche! You don't even have to know a Porsche dealer (in fact, you're probably better off not knowing one...)

Do some homework, call around, be ready to fly out and drive back. There are lots of dealers willing to deal. And they'll deal just as readily on ordered cars.

For example, the hyper-hyped Cayman can easily be had for more than 4K off MSRP, 6K if you have any negotiating skills. 10 phone calls max. These days if you paid any more than 5K back of MSRP on a Cayman, you weren't really trying or you've got money to burn. :)

So, are you guys saying you can actually ORDER a new Porsche, for european delivery, and pay less than MSRP?

I realize that if you are buying a new car out of inventory, paying less than MSRP should be no problem, but ordering one?

It's still possible to negotiate with the dealer to take a smaller profit on an Euro delivery and it then comes out less. After all, they don't have any flooring costs and all they do is use a build slot which, for a C2, isn't really over-subscribed anymore. However, Euro delivery on Porsches is an add-on cost now (at least last I heard). So to get below "MSRP" in the US you'd have to get an even better deal from the dealer.

My co-worker has bought about 7 pcars over the last 4-5 years. He doesn't pay retail for any of them, no matter how hot they are. If you're seriously looking for a car and you don't mind dealing with an L.A. dealer, p.m. me.

Wow, I am so pleasantly surprised by the level of response here. The f-chat camaraderie never ceases to amaze.

I have a lot of very strong leads that I am following up on. I would like to thank everyone for all of the input and help.

To those that have PM’d me and I haven’t responded yet, thank you for the PM and I will be getting back to you very soon (probably on Tuesday) things have been a little bit busy for me lately but should be calming down very soon.

Thanks again everyone. You guys are the best.
