When I first got my 328 last year the clutch pedal made me think I would be buying a new clutch for the car, and Yep... sure enough during a little spirited acceleration this weekend I heard the dreaded engine over-reving due to clutch slipping. So it looks like my Winter project will be to replace the clutch. I have checked the archives and see that Borg & Beck are the OEM for the parts, but can't find the part numbers. I don't wish to pay '' Ferrari Premium Prices'' for parts that are pretty much the same as your average vehicle, especially since B & B (which I think is also Valeo) make them all anyway, so does someone have the Borg and Beck part numbers for the disc and pressure plate and bearing if possible ?

yes Borg and Beck is the OEM clutch. But I don't have the P# handy. They are not expensive at all. Probably about 500 complete with bearing.

I have not removed the clutch yet, but from what I have seen it is pretty ordinary technology and Borg and Beck parts for other similar "non Ferrari" vehicles are not even half the $500 price. So if I can get the numbers then I should be able to order them at a much lower price, they probably fit other vehicles also, so if anyone has bought new parts and can take the part numbers off the boxes that would be much appreciated and will be useful information for everyone esle.

I just got my kit for $399 from George Evans and it doesn't look F-car specific. It looks cheap to me. It is Valeo. No part #'s anywhere on it. I think I know why. I don't think $399 was a great value for this kit. I am sure the disc fits another car. I think the TO bearing maybe F-car specific but the pilot bearing is common. I would like to find out what kind of car shares this clutch.

I agree, I am sure this clutch disc and pressure plate are used on other vehicles, can someone help us ?? Was there not even a part number on the outside of the box? I should think there would have to be so that the sales person could pick the right one off the shelf.

George Evans sources the OEM clutch manufacturers. The one he sent me for my 3.2 Mondial was identical to the one that came out.

I would recommend him if you want to save a few $$$.

Did you keep the boxes which have the part numbers marked on them ??

George Evans may have BETTER prices, but I reckon if you have the Borg and Beck part numbers and order them, you can get them much cheaper again because I bet these same parts are used on other "normal" vehicles. I susupect it should be possible to get them for half the $399 price or even less, this is old and low technology stuff probably made in India or China. No point in paying Ferrari prices for Ford or GM equivalent parts, lets all save the cash to buy more fuel !!.

No part #'s at all. My clutch was sent in a used box that was not for a clutch. The pp is made by Valeo. I don't think that is OEM. I can take some pics of the parts and measurements. Maybe we can find something. My point is that if George gets the clutches cheap the part #'s are missing for a reason. I put that in my last post. I want to find out what car these clutches fit too.

I think the older italian lancia cars share the same clutches as the Ferrari 308..

    Here are the part numbers

    HK9058...clutch kit complete without bearing
    HB 8110 Disc only
    NHE 4562 Pressure Plate only

Bearing...Working on the aftermarket number right now...should know by tomorrow..

    Tom

P.S...One thing you may be getting is a reman clutch. He probbably has a source of the clutch's that come out of 308's that are getting them replaced. He grabs the cores and gets them redone for about 100 bucks and puts them in a new box. THIS IS ONLY MY THOUGHTS ON THIS..I HAVE KNOW WAY OF KNOWING IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT!!

Hmm, Just checked the Sachs North America web site's clutch catalog & it doesn't list that clutch kit (looks like ann entirely different part numbering system). They also don't list 308s under Ferrari(sigh).

(Sachs NA is the US distributor of Borg & Beck clutches.)

Those are the Borg and Beck numbers taken right off the box. I have 6 complete kits in stock. I have six seperat disc's and six pressure plate only. But I CANNOT beat the price they are asking. They are not an expensive unit really. Just pray you don't need a fly wheel. Besides I'm NOT a sponser of the board as of yet so please no other questions on this board...

The bearing comes in at about 120 bucks CND. But you also need the ring nut and the 3-0ring seals as well. And you may have to buy the socket to remove the nut if you don't have it, about 95 buck US Part#F104

Tom thanks a lot for the info, I'll try and track down a supply using these B&B numbers. I have heard mention of a tool to remove a nut, as you can see I haven't got into the details yet, is this a special shape that a socket won't fit ?
    Could I make one ?
