Looking for the Bosch part number, for the starter solenoid, for a 1997 355 spider.
It replaces the Ferrari factory part , if anyone has changed one, would be appreciated.

Did you try looking at the interchangeability thread in the 348/355 master index ?

What are your problems? FWIW, I did rebuild mine myself 18 months ago. Then had a pro rebuild it this winter. I just gave up and bought a rebuild unit.

Mine would work great until it warmed up. Then I got no crank....sometimes. Sometime3s it would fire right up for a week. Sometimes it would hang there on the key and then jump to life. Something else beyond the solenoid is wrong with mine and a new will be here today.

Having said that, I used this:

Amazon.com: Starter Repair / Rebuild Kit for Nippondenso 1.2kW, 1.4kW OSGR Starters (Plunger & Solenoid Contacts): Automotive

I would emery cloth the solenoid to make sure it slides freely. Double check the length of the plunger as well. The two kits I bought the lengths were slightly different.

A couple times lately, turn the key when stone cold after a night in the garage, would light up all panel lights etc, but just a click and nothing. Turn it again and would flash up. After that, starts no issue the rest of the day, even hot.
I've cleaned all 3 positive connections, then finally night before last, cleaned starter connections and fires sharp and fast now,as it should. Was told by a good friend here it sounds like the solenoid may be on it's way out, if it keeps up. Was told there's a direct Bosch replacement part for it, just didn't know the part number. Would be nice to have on hand if it starts acting up again.

Pretty sure the solenoid is integrated into the starter. Comes as one piece. You can only replace the guts & contacts posted above. It is a Nippon Denso starter assy....not Bosch.

I believe mine has a crack in the starter windings and, when hot, separate and will not turn the starter once the windings heat up and the disconnect occurs.

Taking the starter out is pretty easy and checking the contacts and plunger pop right out.

The condition you described is either a dying battery or a bad solenoid.

    Good luck.

Yes, my buddy misinformed me, honest mistake. In my readings here and his info, it's actually the solenoid plunger etc from a Nissan model that replaces solenoid. Just not sure model/year of Nissan, will look into it further. I'm not so trusting on my battery, it was in the car when bought in Feb, recall it's a not high end. It has in 24 hours a resting voltage of 12.4 volts, and will replace I think. Just need to re-read what's a best choice for casual driving. Thanks for the input.
