I don't think that every spyder is better looking than its sister coupe, even tho' they're uniformly more valuable. However, the Ghibli is best (IMHO) dressed as a convertible. Anyone know anything about, or have any experience with, converting a coupe to a spyder? My coupe is a decent rust-free example, but not anything spectacular, so I was thinking about a conversion. I'd appreciate any opinions. It's an early (616) car. thanx s

Now that Ghibli coupe prices are finally appreciating into some decent money you are taking a chance on throwing yours in the trash. :(

Not from experience, but I think you'd best start with comparing the partsbooks. The Ghibli will need considerable stiffening to make it drive anywhere near right. The partsbooks may give you a clue as to how and where this was done, but will tell you nothing about the thickness of sheetmetal used, for instance.

Doing a proper conversion will cost a small fortune. If you're planning to go the economic route, forget it, you'd be better off selling the coupe and buy another convertible car.

That said, a Ghibli spyder is a fantastic looking automobile..
