Duct tape on the outside mirrors. :p

    Just kidding

The link has a picture of what looks like one of the dent pullers. I don't think I would trust that on the outside, its looks like it's held on by suction.

    I suggest http://www.filmtools.com/cruisecam.html

Its going to be inside, there's no way I trust it on the outside. As to your link, the 360 has no real headrest, no where to mount it, I am either going to go with the windshield or the rear window depending on the obstruction of vision.

Do you have a link? The main thing I am looking for is that it is very secure, where do you mount yours?

I have to agree with Menatep! I use the same "rig" for all my shots, interior as well as exterior .. I can highly recommend this and it's not exactly expensive either.

About the one on the original link you posted: I highly doubt that little Giotto head would withstand the braking forces on a track. The Manfrotto head on the rig I use is absolutely gigantic. I use it on track events too. You could easily mount it on the "rear" window. Just repeating what it says in the link: head supports 6.6 pounds and suction cup supports up to 70lbs - I think that should do ;)

I have some personal experience using a Chascam "triple suction cup window mount" in a new M5. It experienced very high G forces without coming loose. There is a little vibration under hard paddle shifts when in full M mode but it's not very bad at all. I was using my friend's mount but I liked it so much that I just ordered one for myself. :)

$90 is a bit much for something I would only use a couple times a year, but the $65 one seems promising. Have you noticed a lot of shake in the video, what are you using? Do you know the difference between the 3-Suction window mount and the regular 3-suction mount, besides $25?

I have the sam one fenivision posted... the picture just shows it with the protective yellow plastic cover for the suction up. the suction cup can hold up to 70 pounds, so it'll withstand anything you throw at it. And even if it loses suction for some reason, you have a security cable that will prevent your camera rig from flying away.

Like I said, it only shakes a little under very hard acceleration. I'm using it with an entry level Cannon camcorder. The difference between the two is the 3" extension arm, which allows you to angle the camera in just about any direction that you want.

Has there been any problem with it falling off?

I've only used it twice but it was in an M5 with my friend driving like a total lunatic. I was very sceptical about the mount at first and thought for sure that it would come loose but it never did.

I have the chasecam mount as well. No problems, but I've only used it on the inside and not at very high speeds or crazy driving. I do how ever want to get one of the ones like the picture posted above.

This is kind of ironic, the more I searched for a good mount the worse I have found my camera to be. I found some in-car footage even with a professional level mount and every bit of footage from this camera (Canon HV30) was extremely shaky, nothing was very smooth, so I think I am going to have to scrap the idea, its sad this happens to such a good camcorder and that a $150 camcorder would beat it in this category, at least this wasn't the reason I bought it. Thanks for all the advice guys.

I use the same one as well and it is rock solid, we have a special head made for better, heavier cameras and it is spectacular, inside and out. We also have a pin camera for those spots where a usual camera doesn't fit and it has a special mount for that also, definitely worth the $$.-Josh

I wanted to revive this thread for a documentary I'll be filming. Has anyone had any issues with paint because of the suction cups? I just bought one of the film tools mounts and I'm a bit concerned about paint damage, most people say that it leaves a bit of a mark, but a good polishing should fix that. Any one run into anything more serious?
