please post pics of audio systems in 355s. Thanks!
there have been a few that I have seen, but I would definitely love to see some as well... There have to be some people here who enjoy to listen to their tunes as well as their aftermarket exhaust with test pipes! gordon
Hi Ed, First, I'd call Kevin at Audio Illusions in Chatsworth to pick his brain a little- I'm sure things he does now are different that when the 355 came out and many put in sound systems. Since you're in Pasadena, you may want to find out what is in his shop on any given day and cruise over and take a look- I think you'd be amazed - he also has pics of all of his installs but just doesn't take the time to do a web site. He only did my TR, but work was flawless. I guess I got lucky w/ my 355 spider- it came with a full-tilt Eclipse system with amps and a removeable subwoofer in the front "trunk" that is excellent. But it leaves just enough room for a garmant bag for those weekend trips (or you can remove it, but I have not yet). Pics would not do too much for you as it is all black and doesn't show off. And all speakers are in stock locations in cockpit- just upgraded. It's probably a 10K system (with installation) and plenty loud and clear even w/ Tubis. Of course now I want iPod support and Sirrius... good excuse to get another car Good luck with your choice1 Eric
Thanks for the response. Have any of you heard anything about Mark's autosound in Irwindale? I think they're called Mark's Audio Video now.
they design there own systems - only thing store bought is there head units - sounds amazing and I am a true audipohile (INMO) LOL pics of the old eclipse head unit - everyting else is hidden besides a trunk unit

I second that opinion...Audio Illusions is the great! Kevin does Jay Leno's cars, among others. He's not cheap, but he is widly acknowledged as the best. He is one of the few that specializes in Ferrari's. He did my 99' 355 sound system. It looks stock (don't want to distract from the cars natural beauty), yet sounds awesome (even with the top down and the Tubi roaring). Tim
From another Fchat user, 355Flyer I believe... Planning on doing a similar install in the not-too-distant future: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok- I'm a little embarrased of these pics- I get my car detailed regularly but I guess I need the guy to do some work under the "bonnet"- these pics are horrrible and it's not bird crap, but "lint" that you see. Just got back from overnighter and wanted to show how a fairly large garment bag still fits in front with subwoofer- and again, I can upplug and remove the sub (also, I took out the tool kit but it would still fit with my bag. I almost forgot I have these, as I drive with top down all the time and the tonneau cover "blocks" them- not very useful in spider but I guess installer wanted to use all the channels of the amps to give ability to use the "fader"... not a plus or minus in my book, but probably not needed unless it's a a coupe.. 1 bad boy - what size box is that up front? Can you still hear the sub in the cabin or with the top down? What about amps - where did you put them? looks good! gordon
The sub is installed under the front dash (it is NOT visible in the car). The back of the sub extends several inches into the trunk space. The fabricated sub enclosure in the trunk is covered in black OEM carpet so that it blends perfectly and seamlessly with the OEM black trunk carpet. As a result of this installation, the trunk space is slightly reduced, but there is almost no evidence of a sub installation. Tim
I'm approx 45 minutes from Pasadena (Agoura Hills). If you would like, feel free to come out and take a look. I think you would be impressed with the quality of the installation. By the way, Kevin installed the XM antenna under the dash in the front right corner. Hard to believe, but perfect reception in spite of the dash obstruction. Tim
