Just found out my driver's side timing belt covers cracked and broke off into pieces on my 355. A large is piece is still intact but hitting the timing belt. I guess I will have to replace the cover along with the timing belt, which requires the engine to come out..... was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and if it is quite common for these covers to break. I was actually thinking of fabricating some metal replacement covers, would anyone be interested in these? The cover itself isn't expensive to replace, it's just the engine has to come out to replace the cover and timing belt, which costs quite a bit.

I think Ferrari changed the design of the original timing belt cover sometime towards the end of the production for the 355. But it remained plastic.
