Just wondering if anybody has heard of anyone dropping out of their allocation for a Speciale now that the 488 has been announced. The allocations seemed pretty rare...I think the dealer in Scottsdale was expecting to deliver a total of six cars and is not sure he'll get all six.

My dealer in Florida received only 4 Speciale allocations. Fewer than I expected!

Everyone is getting fewer Speciales than expected. To put it into perspective, IF Scottsdale gets only 5 Speciales, that is fewer Speciales than Stradales.

The best estimates for total Stradales built is about 1,300 and the scuttlebutt is there will be around 2,000 Speciales built (not counting the Aperta). It sure seems like that number is low...

Number 5. Doing Atelier in Maranello in 2 weeks. They are guessing they will get a 6th.

2,000 is WAY high from what I have heard and with production ending in a few months as rumor has it there isn't the ability to bump it up to that number.

I'd be shocked if someone would drop a Speciale slot, as a partially limited model, for a 488 that will be produced at 7k per year or more (10k?).

Ferrari told my UK dealership that unless you are doing Atelier or have a confirmed spec on a Speciale, customer deposits are to be returned as of yesterday .... I'm happy to say I'm doing atelier in 2 weeks

+1. IMO I think the total number of allocation will definitely be less than 2000 given the low number of allocations from each dealer in the US so far. With only 2 allocations left (June and July given May already has been allocated), some dealers may either get two, one or none at all before production ends.

Visited the Singapore showroom today - they have one stock new special in Argento Nurburgring with gold stripe and wheels available and then they have allocations for June and July builds. It seems like the availability is a very market specific thing.

    Rod.

My understanding is that the 7k annual production number( as well as the anticipated increase to 10k discussed) is for all Ferrari models in aggregate - not the 458 or 488 independently - am I wrong?

Right. But I would expect more than 50 % of the production to be the 458/488 family.

Thanks for that Rob. I thought that number was just for the 458.

I received the 4th and final Speciale allocation from my dealership. I think a production number of 2000 Speciales is too high. To put it into perspective, if each of the 43 North American Ferrari Dealers received 6 Speciale allocations (which is on the high side for the average dealership), that would translate into a total of 258 Speciales (not including the Aperta) for North America. Even when you expand to include the global Ferrari Dealership market, I don't see how'd you get to 2000 Speciales...

UK dealerships had already averaged 6 per dealership as of September last year - delivered cars!

I am about to pull the trigger on a Speciale. It's that or wait and pick up a used Aperta in a year. My dilemma is knowing what the production numbers really are worldwide. Less than 2000 and I would buy the Speciale now and upgrade to the Aperta later. Any thoughts from you guys?

I've talked to two dealers I've known for years, and they both told me their best estimate was "more than Stradales...about 1,300 worldwide, and fewer than Scuderias (I don't know the number)". My guess is 2,000 but others think that's too high.

I think it'll wind up less than 2,000.

+1. My dealership is expecting around 9 to 10 total Speciale allocations by the end of production run with the last allocation being July

IMO allocation run would likely end in Europe a few months earlier than US/North America since European dealers got their first allocation 5-6 months earlier.
Btw, how many dealerships are there in the UK?

Get the Speciale now (IMO total production will be way less than 2000), enjoy it and then upgrade to the A later assuming you won't be paying a large premium at that time.

I was working on 17 sales dealerships but I think a number of these are service only - assuming 13 then UK already delivered sales of 458 Speciales (as of September 2014) was just under 8 per dealer.

I sold my Scud last October for a Speciale Order, it's a tough decision to make, and I'll point out my car will not arrive until May, but so far not missed the Scud....

I would go for it. Did the same thing and waiting for my Speciale. I don't think you will regret it.

Though I do miss the Scud...
