Anyone go to UC Santa Cruz? If so, how was it?
Put it this way, I know quite a few people who went to UCSC and then transferred to UCSB in their sophmore year. Those that stayed at UCSC, did at least 1 year abroad.
thing is my parents dont want to spend like 40k+ a year unless its a really good private and the ones i got into are good, just not THAT good. So UCSC is the other option. I want to transfer to like UCLA or SD or something after a year or so. Hows santa cruz as a location? Ive never been there.
Eh. Some people love it. I hate it. My girlfriend goes to UCSD and I visit her a lot, that place is awesome. Not nearly as many beautiful people as ASU, but it's a great school, pretty campus. Some of the classrooms are pretty dated...still using chalkboards and crappy PA systems. If you don't mind me asking, what private schools did you get into? I applied to St. Mary's in Moraga/Laffayette area. Pretty campus, nice people, but I felt it wasn't the right fit for me.
If you want to spend 4 years at a school that will mean absolutely nothing in terms of actually learning something or adding to your resume, go to either Santa Cruz or Pitzer. While there are better ways to waster $120,000, very few do it with less grace.
I've thought the same about UCSC. Fortune (or Businessweek), ranked it in the first or second tier. Pretty high up, just because it's a UC. I noticed all the UC's were somewhere near the top. I'm not saying ASU is a brilliant school, but I know ASU doesn't deserve to be in the third tier. There are some great programs at ASU and some poor ones. But it definitely shouldn't be ranked THAT low. Bottom of the line though, is that regardless of the school, if you network right, you can get into a great position regardless. A better name just helps you more so.
