Thanks mate, took me nearly 4 hours to do the intake, wanted it nice though. Looking forward to the drive, I'll be taking the camera Thanks mate, I could have pulled the engine myself, but I decided I wanted an expert on the job, 2 reasons, I am pushed for spare time at the moment and if something goes wrong I can just take it back to the mechanic. Did the intake my self as it is a fiddly job and no point paying an hourly rate to do a job I enjoy. It is sitting out side my window ATM, man this thing is UGLY!!!
Yes I do, but when I look in it I don't see something ugly. *sigh* It's no fun when you have to explain
Just over 800kms in one weekend, I am still suprised it made it without needing major repairs... Still as ugly as PP but unlike PP this things goes very well!! I have heaps of photo's from the trip, lots of interesting sights, I can post a few if anyone is interested....
Nice one mate!! Glad to hear you enjoyed the drive. Looking forward to seeing pics as soon as you can get em up.
After clocking up over 1k kms I felt it was running strong, that was the first lesson, never trust your feelings. Today I took it to a twilight track event put on by playday on track at Hampton Downs raceway, deal is $91 turn up at 4pm, racing by 5pm track closes 7pm, so 2 hours track time, free for all. I do have to say, this is potentially the fastest car I have ever owned, rapid is a fair word. But rapid is also descriptive as to how quickly it craps the bed. I managed 13.6kms on the track before the big ends gave up. Not sure if it was oil starvation but that seems the most likely cause, knocking like hell. So I will be pulling the motor yet again, this time for a bottom end rebuild. Talked to my Dad just before, told him what had happened, he said and I quote "It's like your 3rd bank, every now and then you chuck a whole lot of money in it". Funny. Which leads me to my second lesson, if it has tits or tyres it's going to not only cost you money but annoy the crap out of you, and ruin a perfectly good afternoon of motorsport.
bummer.. how many kms did it have on it when you got it? condition? Mate of mine had 2004 STi and it was solid as a rock, back and forth over the Blue Mountains in tough commute, inner city, odd track day and we even did tarmac rally in it and never skipped a beat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
