My brother wants to start a Wingstop franchise and offered me to form a partnership with him. We could easily split up the starting costs and we would have no problem meeting the liquid assets + net worth requirements. I looked into it and it seems worth trying. He wants to use the profits earned from the first unit to open up more, and eventually own a small empire of Wingstops. According to their website, the average Wingstop unit earns a little over $1MM in annual gross sales, and with a realistic 15 percent return I believe that could translate to about $150,000 in net profit before taxes. However, those revenues are only average so I'm not sure what first and second year profits would look like.

    Why Wingstop - Franchising

He currently works as a general manager at a Wingstop and I'm an accountant with an MBA, so I think our skills are on point with this plan. Some family friends I know own a chain of fast food franchises and hire managers to do most of the work as they passively collect the income. They've told me the first unit is the hardest, but once that's established it gets easier and more passive.

But is it possible to start a franchise while still working your full time job? Do you think it's worth starting a franchise? What has been your experience as a franchisee? Any thoughts?
