Anyone here own both 360 Modena and GT-R?

I test drove GT-R for the 2nd time today, unfortunately I did not get to really push it due to road condition, but it is very torquey and has very noise mechanical noise (I am guessing coming from LSD?). I really like the car and probably would get it as stablemate to my 360.

My partner had a 360 and GT-R, 360 is pleasure and GT-R is business (he owns a performance parts business that is heavily specialized).

We sold the 360 to a GT-R customer of ours and temporarily replaced it with a Gallardo Spyder, but eventually a F430.

The cars are complete apples to oranges but compliment each other very well.

I have plenty of seat time in both and the GT-R is the rational decision, it is better than the Ferrari on paper and in every way when you drive it, but you may grow bored of it as it does not offer the unique driving experience a Ferrari does.

In my opinion the big fun of the GT-R comes with modifying it, ours has 700whp.

I have a C63 & 360. Sadly, the C63 is faster from ~60-120. BUT, the 360's MUCH more fun at the track!

Good luck with your decision. I'm in the same boat. Maybe another M5 or a GT-R.

Hi. I had both the Gt-R and a 430 F-1 Coupe together and they complimented each other perfectly. The GT-R was the everyday work-horse (modded to around 620 bhp) and the 430 was the weekend toy. The GT-R is FAST and composed. Contrary to the opinion of some scribes, it has SOUL, lots of it, just not as much as a Ferrari for sure.

Have now sold both and am collecting my new Scuderia tomorrow afternoon. Couldn't resist the damn Scud. Now have to look for another daily driver. Maybe an Audi S4?

In my opinion, the GT-R is a fabulous car and the performance bargain of this century. Mine was completely reliable and never gave me any problems. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stable mate for their Prancing Stallion! I miss it already and would glady buy the next one that comes out.

    Cheers, Arj

I agree completely. I've had my GT-R for about 9 mos now and have had zero problems. Extremely fast, very comfortable, loads of great electronic gadgets and room for four. Mine is my daily driver and I also use it for long trips. Run flat tires are a little noisy but I'll take care of that once they wear out. The noise you hear from the rear is the transaxle. Some clicking and other noises with gear changes.

I'll go the other way here and express my displeasure with the GTR primarily for its soulless demeanor. Both the quickest and fastest car I have owned, but entirely as boring as a big AMG sedan (and weighs nearly as much!).
Onthe positive side, not a bad daily driver and of course the GTR is the performance bargain of the century. Never lost a "race" in the GTR.

I bought it over the other cars I cross shopped - M3, M5, ZR1/Z06, RS4, F360 but sadly never fell in love with the GTR despite putting 12k miles on as a DD. Mine required far more maintenance and $ than my 911 TT.

I believe the GTR, for me, would have been much better if there was a wonderful exhaust note (aftermarket didnt make a great sound when I owned mine), significantly updated and improved DCT logic, and a weight loss program to improve the GTR's push. I could live with the hot cabin and maintenance, and constant attention from passerby's.

I have not owned a 360 or F430. Test drove both extensively after selling the GTR and came away w/o either becuase it is hard, in all fairness, to replace the rapid pace of the GTR.

As one posted commented...Scuderia. GTR meets Ferrari in one car!
    I'm headed that way also.

I have an F430 Spider and an R8 V-10. Does that count?(LMAO) Personal opinion, I like the looks of the R8 over the GT-R. Both great cars.

I had my CS and GT-R both out at the track about 3 wks ago. CS is much more fun but much better lap times in the GT-R. (Not that I was timing.)

Can the CS hang with stock GT-R from 50mph~120mph?

My friend has a bone stock GT-R and we did a brief test run today from dead stop, I was in my 335i with JB3. The GT-R is about half car ahead at 70mph and we both stopped. I would estimate it would be 1.5~2 car ahead had we gone up to 100mph. My 360 is noticeably quicker than my JB3 335i from a roll. This is why I am just curious how much quicker is a "Stock" GT-R than a 6spd 360 with high flow cats and 85lbs weight reduction in rolling situation. I have driven stock GT-R in twice. It was fast but just not what I was expecting, maybe because my expectation was sky high. GT-R is definitely on my wish list.

360 seems to have a reputation of being a slow car. I have driven a lot of cars before, it is actually quite acceptable.

Sorry but this must br the most ridiculous thing I have read on this forum in quite some time, do note the 360 was launched in 1999 and lets look at what the benchmarks were in 1999 and you will see the 360 is by no means a slow car.

Its hardly fair to compare a car developed over 10 years ago to a techno fest thats the GTR.

Lets look at the figures of this car with a reputation for being "slow"

0-60 mph in 4.2 second and a top end of 185mph, neither of which can be classed as slow in my book.

You read my post out of context, I personally felt the car is fast enough with excellent power to weight ratio. The general consensus of being a slow car (which I strongly disagree) is outside of my control. I personally prefer the 360 over GT-R, but GT-R would make a wonderful addition.

I've never run them side by side or done any direct timing to actually know. I would guess that given a good driver, it likely could but given an inexperienced driver, it would be much easier to be faster in the GT-R.

The 360 isnt all that fast in a straight line anymore...

there are $26k cars that are hitting 0-60 in 4.7 nowadays.

anyone buying a Nissan over a Ferrari is out of his mind.

That said, if you already have a Ferrari, and are looking for a nice DD, buy an R8.

there are cars that can be had cheaper than that that can accomplish faster times.. 4.7 is still a fast time..

The point of the matter and the point some really dim or simple minded people (i'm assuming kids) don't realize is that straight line acceleration is not the point, it never was..

a car has many methods that make it a good performer.. acceleration is one out of 10...

anything under 5.5 seconds 0-60 is fast.. it was fast 20 years ago and is fast now.. yes yes the new supercars can do 3.4 blah blah.. that's great that is very quick.. but it doesnt make 4.8 slow either..

if you want a car for absolute top acceleration.. then don't even look at a ferrari, you will get a much better value with one of the other cars..

I think it's cool what the GTR can do but it's about as sexy IMO as a fat girl at the local hooters.. I would take a maserati/aston/bently/benz etc etc any day over that car..
