LOL! Who said FerrariChat.com OT wasn't useful? I took the test, got a 26. Went to their website, dug out my old GRE scores, and see that I qualify based on those. Lol, Mensa application is now in the mail!

I really don't think I'll fit in, but I'll reserve judgement. Boulder is a pretty hip place, who knows!

I can remember when I was "working" at a garage sale my parents put on, one of the older guys was going on an on about about his grandson and how he was in Mensa. Great, I said to myself. Do you want the guitar or not? :) Well, now, my own parents can tell all their friends!

A couple of notes. Clearly, everyone has strengths and weaknesses. One thing I just can't seem to do is the word unscrambling under pressure. Everything else I sail right through. Interesting.

Another thing, we all know really bright people (and their hotshot SAT scores in high school) who never made much of themselves. Meanwhile, as has been stated here, there are plenty of successful people who didn't care what they got or didn't get on the SAT and never looked back. Ya gotta be savvy and street-wise, I guess. Being smart doesn't hurt.

And an interesting note. I don't know how "bright" I am or not, but one thing I do know is that my memory is very, very good. Not even necessarily photographic (is that for real anyway?) but just a "recording machine" if you will. As I've gone through school, work, and now back for my PhD, I continually see how this is a huge asset, maybe above and beyond any "smarts" plays into things. Both in the real world (remember people's names!), and with academics. I'd imagine many doctors and lawyers (who need to absorb huge amounts of information) may realize the same at some point.
