Anyone here play Chess?

just casual player here. I go to ichess.morfik.com to play using iphone. its a silly easy game to play though. fun part is to try and beat in fewest moves, using fewest pieces. fortunately its not very smart but still fun to play. I'm down to 7 moves with only 2 pawns loss. still trying to beat that, which I'm sure the serious players can do.

 

yup, I do play, but not as frequently as I'd like to. Been playing since the age of... 7 I think.

Recently been getting into Go.

 

Casual player, but enjoy the game very much. I used to play in the Yahoo online games(realtime online players) when I had more time.

 

i play very much. i might add, im damn damn good. my favorite move - queens gambit or russian blitz..

 

i'm a casual player, i play mostly online because most of my friends don't know how to play the game, i'm not good at it at all though...

In 8th grade I was the top ranked player in the chess club. Does that count as a legit ranking?

 

My father-in-law was formerly the ICCF US Champion. I have played causally all my life, but picked it up rigorously during my senior year of college in hopes of beating him (was not my father-in-law at the time!), but alas, was unsuccessful. My skills were decent, but not outstanding.

 

I used to play it a lot. Especially on holidays with my dad and grandfather.

Then all of a sudden I hadn't played for about 3 years.

Back then in high school a teacher (pretty cool american guy I was friends with) asked me if I played chess...I said yeah I do and he asked if I wanted to come and play in a tournament versus a bunch of other high schools. I said I was cool with it but then he said I HAD to practice with all the other people who where playing. I said I do have a life and didn't want to practice but I would tag along.

Anyhow, all the people in my school who where practicing for MONTHS all told me I was an idiot for not practicing and I would lose for sure! So we got there, and the first guy I was up against played for his whole life apparently and was even taking notes of every single move.

I thought 'ok here we go, I will lose for sure lol'. He ended up losing after a long match.
Few more games later and I ended up against some other kid from my own school and he got beat within 10 minutes, apparently he was supposed to be the best in the whole school so that made me chuckle a little.

Ended up finishing second behind some mega smart dude, so not bad after not playing for 3 years!

Haven't really played much since then though...good few years ago now! Although I do play on the computer sometimes.

 

I haven't played against an actual person on an actual board since probably freshmen year of HS, but I play on my iphone every now and then. I truly suck at it....

but I do enjoy it, it's a good way of getting out of the instant gratification mindset and learning (or re-learning) how to do strategy several steps ahead of your immediate situation. a good lesson with many life applications.

 

I play every chance I get, teaching my 6 year old to play so I have someone to play with more often.

 

I love to play too. I play at yahoo and with my Iphone online.

 

Get "Chess with Friends", good app for iphone.

 

I love chess,but I never play it.

 

Got that. Need iPhone app for finding new friends that can actually play chess.
