Hey gang! I was driving through Indiana and spotted a nice red Ferrari F360 Spyder with Texas new car tags on the back of it. According to the driver of the semi it was on, the car is headed to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and I was curious if anyone on here bought it. If so, why the heck are you having it shipped that far on the back of an OPEN TRANSPORTER?!?!?!? I cannot imagine how dirty and or damaged that car will be once it arrives after going that far on the back of an open semi truck. :(

(P.S.- I have pics, but do not know how to post them here.)

Not really upset....just baffled by apparent stupidity. I just cannot imagine leaving a new Ferrari 360 exposed to thousands of miles on the back of a semi, underneath a boat, and likely to get damaged. I guess it just confuses me, that is all.

I agree. If you're paying that much for a car and it's going all the way from Texas to Quebec -- pay an extra $500 and have it shipped in a closed transport!

A car from Texas to Calgary costs roughly $1,2001,400 on the back of a regular auto carrier's truck.......it costs anywhere from $3,000 and up in an enclosed truck. I just did a couple to Arizona last month.....it's a similiar rate.

Enclosed trucks take longer because their are less of them hauling cars around than there are open carriers. I can get a car to Texas in 5 days or 2 months......you pick......cheaper is faster.

A good detail job is $250 and takes 2-3 days.......all figures are in CAD funds.

    It's just a car.......food for thought.

As kds points out, shipping isn't cheap across the border. My Porsche was shipped open (Hansen) from Pompano Beach to Toronto for $1500 CDN. Of course I shipped it in August which was off season & expensive. Intercity - the only enclosed quote I could get for X border - wanted $4500 USD. DAS & half a doz others said no. I'm sure if I had looked more . . .

Open carriers are never a problem. And if there is, that's why these carriers are bonded and insured. I have used open carriers for years shipping sh!tboxes to Bentley's from Texas to B.C....

Never a prob. Hansen's rocks. If you want enclosed TFX is cool.
