    Hello,

Is there anyone out there that can look at a F-car for me before I invest in an airline ticket?

Also, any suggestions on who to bring the car to for a PPI?

Car is located in Oklahoma City.

Please PM me or e-mail me at [email protected]

    Thanks!!

    :)

I sent you an "E" Mail. Live in OKC and would be happy to help.

Thanks Steve! I got your e-mail and I will call you tomorrow.

Who do you use to service your car there? Besides having someone look at it prior to my flying there, I would like to have a PPI done with a reputable mechanic with F-car experience.

    Thanks!

BRI? Are you kidding? Those guys are crooks in my book. Sold me a BMW 5-series that they claimed had never been painted. When it arrived, there was clear coat coming off the car in several places, as well as some strange "blending" effects along the driver's side. Two body shops here told me that the car had clearly been repainted and that any car dealership would have known. I got hold of the previous owner (BRI said they didn't have this info, but it was in the owners manual when the car arrived) and he said "yep...the car was keyed on the drivers side all the way down the car...I traded it in at BRI for a new Saab and I told them it had been painted."

I then called BRI and talked to "Sam Flippo" and he said "sorry...but if you bring it back to OKC I can have it painted." Then he said "I can have the whole car painted for under $1000." How comforting. I've never had Maaco touch anything.

Bottom line: BRI lied to me. A leopard's spots never change. You've been warned.

Fred, Dallas is only 3.5 hours from OKC, Norwoods can do a PPI. Not exactly convenient, but trustworthy.

I can not say enough good about Norwood's. James has been wonderful to work with. I have heard, haven't meet, that there is an "independent" mechanic here in OKC that is very good with Ferrari's. I can get his name if you wish. Look forward to speaking with you.

Ok, so bad vibes from BRI.

Yes, Norwoods would be a good choice, but the seller isn't going to go 3.5 hours there and 3.5 hours back, plus the PPI time - that's an entire day. I don't blame him.

Steve, when you get your schedule lined up with the seller, please take a look. If it looks good to you, then I will pony up for the airfare to get me there (approx. $1,000 because of spring break). I guess this one may end up being a gut instinct buy, since a PPI may not be feasable in OKC.

I don't know that you necessarily need a "Ferrari" guy to do a decent PPI on a Ferrari. What you are looking for are major mechanical issues, as well as an overall vehicle inspection. I would call the Porsche or Mercedes store in OKC, and ask them if THEY could/would do it. This will sound sacreligious to other F-chatters out there, but most good mechanics can:

    1. Do a complete computer analysis of the car (yes, even a Ferrari), including compression test, etc., etc.

    2. Most decent mechanics can LISTEN to an engine for a few minutes and tell you if it's all there.

    3. Most decent mechanics can accurately judge a car's overall condition.

    Good luck with it!

    Agreed on that one:

MOST mechanics CAN perform a pre-purchase with little to no worry. I know several guys in my area who do them all day long from 25 feet away and can usualy catch 90% of the issues while they're still walking to the car in the parking lot.

But then again...... I've seen some schmucks too.

Get on the horn I say.... Support your local independant!!
