Got this from FCA today. I know it is far out still, but I'm curious if any Ferrari owners are at all interested in driving to LA to be a part of this. I'm interested, but not sure if I'm available yet.

Ferrari North America contacted me the other day to let me know that they have secured Rodeo Drive for a very special significant car display on Sunday October 12th to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari in North America. So this is an announcement to save the date. I expect to have more details in the coming weeks and I will share them as soon as I can but this is what we know so far.

Ferrari will have a display only event on Rodeo Drive for about 100 significant cars. This will not be a judged event, but I believe the club will be able to submit significant cars through FNA for this event. FNA and the Ferrari factory will also bring cars for this event. FNA will need help with getting some of these cars and in addition FNA wants to have the largest gathering of Ferraris in North America.

Luca Montezemolo has challenged us the FCA and FNA to get over 1,000 cars to show up for The Gathering. The Gathering will be at or near Beverly Hills and we will need help trying to find a place to have a gathering of 1,000 plus Ferraris.

My contact is in Italy right now and will return to the states after the 4th. I am to talk with him then about more details on this event. But suffice to say it will be a major event and with Luca Montezemolo coming FNA will not want to disappoint him.

In general the Event will be held to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari in North America which by the way is still its biggest and most important market. I think the idea Luca had was to gather over 1,000 cars and set a world record of Ferraris in one place at one time. This would also be a very neat accomplishment for the club.

The 1,000 cars idea was Luca Montezemolo's so I do not expect that to change. There has also been talk of a Grand Gala around this event, I have not heard if that has changed but I suspect that they are still working on the details of that and that it would happen either Saturday night or Sunday night.

Stay tuned, as I get more info I will forward on, but I suspect we will know much more in 3 to 4 weeks. So for now save the date of October 12th, 2014 and hopefully you can join us in LA.

It will be interesting to see the significant cars that are shown by individuals. Based on my experience, the owners of really great cars only have been show up for only the most significant events internationally. For all of them getting invited to such events, and the favors that they may have received over the years, perhaps they will feel they need to present themselves if Ferrari lets their desires known to those individuals.
