I’m looking for some help converting a JPEG to a dxf file for a CAD printer. I essentially have a word that I’d like cut out of aluminum to make a 3D badge out of. I spoke to a local waterjet cutter and he said no problem, just convert it to a DXF file and we can cut it to any size you want. In doing my research it does seem fairly simple for a very basic cut, but if I want to add beveled edges etc, it can take more design work. I’d be happy to pay someone if they have such a skill set. Let me know…thanks Steve

You'll need to get someone to produce a vector file in Adobe Illustrator (or similar) from the JPEG, as the latter cannot be converted automatically into a file with the necessary cutting path data. The vector file can easily be saved in DXF format in Illustrator. A local sticker shop may be a good place to have this done relatively cheaply. If you want to add beveled edges or the like, you may need a second person with CAD software and expertise to work on the DXF file. Good luck!

Thank you Peter, I’ll try a local sticker shop. Cheers
