I'm thinking of building this model of the #25 NART car. The white one with a blue stripe. I have started to collect pictures of this car and searched F-chat, but did not find much. I have done a pretty good web search but get mostly other die cast or models. Anyone have any other pictures of this car in its #25 white and blue livery?

Any model collectors have any experience with these models?

I would rate the quality slightly higher than the ABC/Brianza models. They take some work to put together properly...

It helps if you're a VERY experienced builder. It's a resin kit, so it requires some working of the body removing extra flash/resin. You also have to smooth out the details and add filler in places. Lastly, the instructions are NOWHERE near the quality of a Tamiya, Revell or any other plastic model kits'. I didn't build this particular car, but I've built a couple of other ones from Model Plus. If you spend the time with it, though, it makes a very nice finished product. The photo-etched and white metal parts really contribute to the realism.

This is a very rough model.

I had to have one built for a customer and it was a nightmare. It was the red LM version. While I am still happy MG made this model, and I understand the problems with trying to make a model this detailed and the compromises necessary, the engineering was somewhat poor.

The rear suspension parts are made of thin cast white metal. The problem with that is making the white metal parts to scale means that they can not support the weight of the model. On the real car these suspension parts are tube steel. So these had to made of brass tubing on the model. Also the rear spindles are too short, some suspension parts are upside down on the instruction sheet, body parts didn't fit at all, some were warped, the engine looked "toylike" and the injector trumpets just looked...well....they needed to be redone also. The engine compartment was also missing huge amounts of detail.

The kit offers a builder a starting point for a great subject and like I said, I am happy with MG for providing that. The kit is far better than having to totally scratch build everything. But it is nothing like some of there other simpler kits which most builders even with moderate experience can turn out a decent build. The P4's are for the very experienced modeler only.

In the end the customer was happy. The model looked real nice. But I could see how someone building this could get very frustrated.
