I don't know anything about the seller or its reputation, so I can't help you on that score.

I did look at and drive this car 15 years ago back in 1998 when it was offered for sale by Intrepid Motors in Reno, Nevada. Intrepid is owned by Bert Skidmore, a well respected vintage car racer and mechanic. Tony Wang keeps (or kept anyway) several of his "West Coast" Ferraris there.

At that time, it had 64,300 miles and had undergone a complete engine rebuild done by Intrepid that included a replacement block from a 412. The Southern California owner maintained the car pretty fastidiously and I don't know exactly what catastrophic event had ruined the original block on the car but Intrepid vaguely referred to some sort of botched valve job.

Fast forward 15 years and the car has traveled 8,500 miles or about 564 miles/year. The car looks cosmetically pretty much the same as it did then although the engine compartment is a bit dustier looking.

A lot can happen, or not happen, to a car in 15 years so it would be important to ask the dealer about the car's more recent operating and service history.

See you got yours sold; I was really interested in your car knowing all it had done to it, I just could not buy another silver/grey car; if I get another sports car , in order for the mrs. to not be complaining its got to be anything BUT those colors, lol sorry but glad you got it sold, although I am sure there is always some seller remorse with such a wonderful machine that any of us baby thru the years! Good day,

I posted a link to this car in January and so I believe that they have been selling this car for at least 3-4 months now:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/365-gt4-2-2-400-412/395257-1984-ferrari-400i-5-sp-chassis-53501-cl.html

Lastly, I and others have been creating threads on cars that are found and so you can search the site via the Car's chassis number for any additional info.

    Cheers,

    Sam
