wow thats nuts, I would go to a store or call and b**** then tell them that your going to switch to sprint or something and you'll get whatever you want. I've found that they work like the cable company's, if you tell them that your going to leave for the other guy they bend over backwards to keep you .

File a grievance with the BBB - seriously. I had a problem with Sprint that had been ongoing for months. Basically they were applying my payment to someone ELSE's bill with the same last name (different first name). That guy had about a $1,500 past due bill, so I only noticed when I got my next statement and the amount I had paid was still showing outstanding. When I called they basically told me that I need to pay that old bill before they credit MY bill. I would be on the phone for HOURS resolving it. They would eventually see the mistake and fix it, promising it would never happen again. But it did - for about 4 months in a row. I was considering sueing them or something, but I read online that they take BBB reports seriously and when an 'incident' is opened with the BBB, it gets forwarded on to the company and they choose how to respond. Due to a lot of federal pressure to be fair to customers, the mobile phone companies are usually highly motivated to solve your grievance.

In my case, I got a call from someone in the "executive office" who was empowered to make things happen - quickly. She first listened to the problem, them profusely apologized, then took care of the problem, and gave me something like 6 months free to help with my frustration. It all got done REAL quick when I did the BBB report. They were calling ME to fix it. Previously I'd be on hold for hours with them.

    Give it a shot!

When AT&T was purchased by Cingular, it took over a year for them to get my plan/ payment right. Every bill was wrong, I would go to the nearest location and raise hades. Good luck.

Hey,don't feel to bad. My last month phone bill from ATT was $41,000.00. The bill was only wrong by, lets see 40,200 bucks.

After 2 weeks of emails back and forth, talking to I dont know how many people, they might of straighted it all out. The reps last words were I am noting the account but do not be alarmed if your next month bill is north of $60,000. It's all noted she said.

That stinks. The worst is the time you'll spend trying to fix it.

I got a mysterious bill from Verizon that has my name but none of my account numbers for like $37. I called and spent an hour with 3 employees and none of them could figure it out - they kept saying that acct number didn't even exist in their system. They saw my accounts, and not only was this mystery account not mine, they couldn't find it at all. They asked for me to fax it in to them in the case it is actually a phishing letter.

Best of all, I just got a second notice for the bill.

Just do some digging and you will get the names/numbers of some VP's who can help you. Also, the CEO's office at many large companies maintain their own customer service teams for such issues.

Personally, the BBB has never done squat for me.
I think all they are is a bunch of folks that just want to enroll businesses to be on their 'approved list' of businesses.

Last months cingular bill was about $575, it is normally about $250. I need to go through the bill and see why its so high. I changed some options on my plan and made some international calls but I don't think it would go that high. I was thinking an extra $100-150.

On howardforums.com there used to be phone numbers for certain people up the chain at cingular.

I had a huge problem with my bills being several thousand dollars higher than they should have been when AT&T and Cingular merged the first time. What really burned me was that I was set up on direct debit, they would happily take the money out, but it took 60 days to get it back each time. By then they had pulled too much out again two more times. Put up with this for six months, eventually they owed me something like 10k before I finally switched. I did get all my money back, but it probably took 50 phone calls.

I hate the fact they are the only ones with the Iphone......
