I removed the original brake servo cover and was wondering the two main bolts fixing it to the body are original? M6 x 16mm, washer 6,4 / 22mm (see pictures) It looks very much original as the original rubber seal is cut out for the washer... Any thoughts? The bolt looks like it's been there for a while, but I would have expected the "usual" slotted mushroom head screw in size M6 and of the same type that's used on some of the other fiber glass panels but in size M5....? Regards Peter
Matthias, I'd be very surprised if the bolt was factory fitted. More likely, it is an early fix for a poorly fitting servo cover by an early owner or dealer. However, anything is possible with Ferrari!
today I took one of the tanks out... and found untouched / hidden original colour... looks much more golden than expected...! the backside of the tank was pressed against the black heat protection foam and part of the bottom were sitting on the felt covered brackets.... interesting the main heat shield has a mounting towards the engine mount... here it`s broken... it can also be seen in the parts catalogue, but not the bracket.... same goes for 206 GT and L-series.... also notice the original black crinkle finish on the outside.... today I removed the original heater tubes.... for the first time I found the producer print on the tube: SAFTA CALOR only one stamp on the hole 7,5 meter! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
as far as I could find out the slotted head screw M6x15mm must be correct, also for this car. a 8.8 screw is very unusual anyway as in the early 1970`s 8G screws were more common also originally no washers were used...
little Belgium official seal... a must have for Belgium delivered Dinos... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
in need of restoration.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Matthias, I would leave it "as-is" with all it's patina and frame it with an original photo of the Dino when raced and install another "restored" steering wheel in the car. Freeman
unfortunately I don`t have a second original M-series steering wheel, difficult to find as different to the E-series ones... if I would leave one as it is and would restore the other one....
Hopefully you have a bit of time to figure it out. You could also just repair the leather on the spokes and enjoy the patina and history through your fingertips! Freeman
"one Dime" below one of the the middle tunnel covers... I hope that will bring good luck... and the missing seat screw was hiding behind the vinyl back wall cover for some time... ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
