    so 40 lbs in total weight savings?? is this verified?? dont wanna pay $7K for nothing.
    this is what i found :

    YES! And the difference is very significant and will affect performance. The 'unspung' weight of the four sport wheels is purportedly 40lbs less than the standard wheels. The 'rule of thumb' multiplier for 'unsprung' weight is that every 1 lb. of unsprung weight is equivalent to 6 lbs. the engine must move. Thus, the standard wheels require the engine to move 6lbs. X 40 lbs = 240 lbs. more weight than the sport wheels. All the weight savings from carbon fibre stuff, elimination of HI-FI, fire extinguisher -- in other words 'sprung' weight' -- are only about one 1/5th the weight savings from getting the sport wheels. You'll never hear of 'awesome' performance figures from the 458 -- by test mags, for example -- when the car has standard wheels.
