Seems kinda nice. Mileage doesn't scare me. If properly serviced...then it just might make someone happy.

This car has been/was listed on autotrader.com the last couple months by a broker. Only other thing I can ad is how much I love silver. Perhaps a little more on a 308 than a 328 but still my favorite color on these series of cars.

Might be a repaint. Missing the 328 GTS logo on the back. Interior looks clean. And you get Ferrari Owners Club patches!

There was a silver/black 87 328 in Ca. about 6-7 years ago that got hit pretty hard in the front. I can't recall the chassis # but I know I have info on the car somewhere. I'll keep digging.

Thanks Wade --- That would be very helpful if you can find that info, please.

By the way, when I ran the CarFax on this car, one thing suspicious came up ---

The records don't begin until the year 1991 and with 44,000 miles on the car at that time. While it's not unusual to find gaping holes in the CarFax history for exotics, it got me wondering if this might be a Euro-spec car that was brought over about that time.

Does anyone know if it's possible to verify Euro vs. US model by VIN? I could call FNA, but they can be a PITA to deal with sometimes.

The VIN on this car is ---- ZFFXA20A9H0069427

Also, 44K miles racked up in 4 years is some SERIOUS amount of driving --- as in true "daily driver" usage. ...........unless there is something screwy about the mileage / odometer with this car ?????

The eighth digit in the VIN designates whether it is US or Euro

    US is A
    Euro is B

this car is definitely a US

I will look for the info.

I agree :) I shouldn't have to make the statement.

But, you can never tell when some overly officious F-chatter (you know who you are) is going to jump in and blast a poster and make absurd allegations of conspiracy theory (and "shilling"). Some folks are hyper sensitive about such things.

Don't let them influence you. Ignore them, if that's how you really feel.

Anybody can make a disclaimer and it really means nothing anyway. What if you really do have some "connection" to this car? What is anybody going to do about it? Saying you don't doesn't prove it or make it true. Grown people should take everything with a grain of salt anyway.

Certainly a dishonest person involved with this car might not have an issue with saying they are in no way associated with it even though they are, so what do others gain with a disclaimer? If there was some disclaimer document with the details, date, your name and signature it might be different.

PS. I believe what you wrote :) Just don't like the proliferation of disclaimers and even more so if it's due to "peer pressure." Let the paranoid be paranoid.

Just how did the seller get "Brand new seats from Ferrari" ?? Way out of date for Ferrari to have those lying around.

I always thought that the poster put in a disclaimer to protect himself. By bringing everyone's attention to a particular car, a poster is, in a sense, advertising the car. The poster puts in the disclaimer so that if someone sees the post, buys the car, then has a problem with the car and/or purchase, the purchaser can thereafter have no recourse against the poster. Under these circumstances, as far fetched as they may be, a simple disclaimer would mean something.

Thanks --- I owe you one, brother :)

I'm going to be conservative and assume it's the same car. Although, with the old ad no longer available (expired / deleted) I can't match VIN's. I skimmed through the thread and found much "circumstantial evidence" to suggest these are the same car, but nothing "definitive and indisputable" that confirms it's the same car.

Does anyone see anything I missed that proves it's in fact the same car????

The car referenced in the other threads is ZFFXA20A4J0077277 (see http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118751&highlight=328+houston+silver). The Ebay ad references ZFFXA20A9H0069427

The Houston/CA car is an 88 with convex wheels, the Ebay ride is an 87 with concave wheels. It just can't be the same car.

Googling the ebay vin shows the car was offered through several dealers in the recent past in the low 30s. Now, many dealers offer cars that aren't actually in their inventory, but I find it interesting that a dealer in GA was selling a car that's now in CA.

I found no VIN either, but lots of circumstances: Silver with black, consistent short ownership history, changed steering wheel, replaced black leather seats, higher mileage. CarFax (shown in thread) should confirm. I ain't Columbo - or in the market - so prudence advised.

See comment in thread about 'replacement black leather seats' here:

Tillman knows what he's talking about, so I'll let you guys determine the truth. Worthy of research either way.

That's what I observed as well. And, I drew the same conclusions ---- unless some extraordinarily nefarious individual is playing "VIN games", or worse, swapping chassis plate ID's...........

    Doubtful.

The problem with story cars is that they infect other similar machines. "Beware the silver GTS! Oh Noes!", and all of them take a mental hit of sorts.

Heck, there's a 89 red GTB out there that was rebuilt from a total (and the title doesn't show it), shall we be scared of all of them?

The CarFaxes don't match up at all -------- now, I'm starting to convince myself that these are 2 different cars.........

Crap!........ That means I have to book a flight to San Diego now and go look at the damn thing!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmm..............let me see how many frequent flyer miles I have left :)

Any benevolent F-chatters in the San Diego area (with some free time on their hands) want to volunteer to be my eyes and go have a look for me???

Seriously, if I end up buying the car, I'll have to go out to SD anyway ---- and, I'll treat you to dinner and cocktails to return the favor......

I live approx 30 minutes from this car. If you contact the seller and find out his location, etc., I will be happy to go check it out for you ;-)
