Hi all, I have been lurking in this section for the last year since I started looking for a 355. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the following car before I contact the owner to discuss - I couldn't find it listed in the registry: 1998 F355 Challenge, s/n 108166. $75,000. Fanatically maintained, never hit or rolled. 2 sets of Speedlines. All extensive Challenge updates performed. Many safety upgrades and lightweight parts. Passenger racing seat with harness, cool-down system, driver window safety net, etc, etc. Very thorough list of upgrades and features available upon request. Fully sorted and ready for SCCA or Ferrari Club events. NY # (no photos or other info advertised) I will be looking to export the car to Australia for track days etc but may still pick up a GTB for road use if a good one comes up locally. Thanks James (from OZ)
If you are interested, I have a firm line on a 97 GTB, yellow with 30K performed about 250 miles ago. Absolutely perfect dash, no sticky crap. Motivated seller. PM me if you're interested.
Thanks Daniel but I would only import a CH model (for track use) as we are RHD here and its not worth converting a LHD GTB to make it road legal here (better to wait for something suitable locally). I do look forward to ordering some parts from you when the time comes though!
Thanks - Still waiting for my FML password to come through but I did email about another one in Texas yesterday that looked a bit rough, might be the same one.
This car was raced in the Venezuela Challenge series in South America, I don't have any other history. But did you see this one ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330230686843&rd=1 I was quite tempted, I reckon no more than 80K AUD landed with duty paid, but commonsense prevailed - already have enough cars. M
Yeah I saw that when the auction was nearly over but didn't bid because I would really want to get the car checked out before spending money on shipping, customs duty, GST etc - its a bit harder when we are half a world away.
Yes, thats always an issue when buying form O/S but it was a race car, so it's not gunna be perfect anyway. It was advertised last year for around 70k and didnt sell, so this time it had a more realistic price. What are your plans if you get a LHD 355C ? FCA track days ? Tarmac Rally's ? M
James, have you seen this one? http://www.racecarsdirect.com/viewlisting.php?view=15493 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Didn't realise that other one had also been for sale before - would have looked at it more seriously if I hadn't found it on the last day of the auction. Really only thinking about track days at this stage but would consider anything else open to a LHD car. For me its a better idea than rolling the dice with expensive road legal cars on a track but should be at least as much fun. Plus the 355 is my favorite of the "modern" ferrari's.
Yeah thanks, saw that but 76K euros will be around (AUD)$175K landed here after all our taxes etc. A $60-$70K US dollar car should come in around (AUD)$90-$100K so a much better proposition, especially for a track car.
Are you sure of the year??? That VIN is very, very early to be a 98 car---It would fit within the 97 model years...
Hate the Euro car ads---None ever list the VIN and dealers will not give it out....Wonder why this is? US Ebay it is required to list a car...That is why it is so difficult adding foreign cars to the 355 registry..
Martin has one at 4ferrari.com I have seen this one myself. It is nicer than mine. Fair price too. Martin is a straight up guy.
